It’s Mudcrutch Monday Madness, Gram Parsons In the Spotlight, and ‘Live’ Steely Dan to Start The Work Week, Monday, May 2, 2022

Good Morning, Music Lovers! It has been bit since we’ve had a Mudcrutch Monday Madness, and The Music Mermaid has decided that this is indeed the day. We’ve also got Gram Parsons and Steely Dan on tap!

It’s a Mudcrutch kind of Monday.

Here’s your Monday musical landscape:

11:00 a.m. Mudcrutch Monday Madness! The Full Catalogue

Yep. It’s back. We’ve got a couple of hours of great music here for you as we give you their entire catalogue, including that kick-ass live version of Hungry No More from Boston’s House of Blues in 2016. Not to be missed.

3:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Gram Parsons

Gram Parsons was a country-rock legend, although he did not live long enough to reap his rewards, dying at the young age of 27. A member of The Byrds, The International Submarine Band, and The Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons was a pioneer in the fusion of country and rock.

7:00 p.m. Steely Dan Live at National City Pavillion, Cincinnati, Ohio, July 13, 2008 NEW!

This was a stop on the Think Fast Tour, and it’s brand new to our rotation. Steely Dan is, without a doubt, a seventies favorite here in The Mermaid Lounge.

We’ve got a lot of folks tuning in this morning. Mondays are always tough and great music can make your Monday better! Why not give it a try? We are totally free of charge. We do not require a “membership” and we’ll never charge your card because we don’t ask for one. All we ask is that you find a tab and tune us in. Is that so much to ask?

It’s May Day in The Mermaid Lounge and We’ve Got Valerie Carter With Our New AOW, and The ‘M is For Motown’ EP, Sunday, May 1, 2022

Good Morning, lovers of that Motor City sound! You’ve got it starting this afternoon and evening, but first we kick off the day with our brand new Album of The Week by a Mermaid Lounge favorite, Valerie Carter.

‘M is For Motown’ kicks off at 3:00 p.m. EST!

Here’s your Sunday lineup:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: The Lost Tapes, Volume Two by Valerie Carter NEW!

Once again, Valerie Carter’s close friend, Kathy Kurasch, has done a masterful job keeping Carter’s legacy alive. We have been eagerly waiting for this release here in The Mermaid Lounge and it makes its debut here today. Most of all, it’s critical to remind everyone that, while Valerie Carter wanted to remain in the background, her vocal talents made her one of the most ‘in demand’ singers of her generation. Check out her website to see the breadth of her work. She was also one of the most down-to-earth and fully-evolved humans on the planet.

3:00 p.m. M is For Motown: Various Artists

We’re back with the sounds of Motor City. You’ll hear Barrett Strong, Eddie Kendricks, Eddie Holland, Edwin Starr, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Jackson 5, Kim Weston, Jr. Walker & The All-Stars, Marvin Gaye, Martha & The Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Four Tops, The Isley Brothers, The Temptations, The Contours, Mary Wells, Rare Earth, Tammi Terrell, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Marvellettes, The Spinners, Jimmy Ruffin and more!

What are you waiting for, kids? I mean, it doesn’t get any better than 24/7 music with no commercial interruption and no payment required. If you’re hesitating because you think it’s too good to be true, I suggest you put that theory to the test. Because the facts will prove otherwise.
