We Kick Off Tom Petty Month With a Single Agenda Item: Our ‘Tom Petty’s Top 100’ EP, Monday, October 2, 2023

Good morning, Petty lovers! Six years ago today, Tom Petty passed away into rock n’ roll heaven to hang out with Roy Orbison and George Harrison again. Or at least that’s what I’d envision were that a reality. It freaked me out like John Lennon’s death freaked me out.

We kick off Tom Petty Month With One Agenda Item:

10:00 a.m. Tom Petty’s Top 100 Best Songs

Tom Petty passed away six years ago today, on October 2, 2017, one week after the final live show of the Heartbreakers’ 40th Anniversary Tour at the Hollywood Bowl. Dr. Tom Petty left behind a volume of work, some perhaps still unexplored, to keep his musical vision alive.

Today we have Tom Petty’s Top 100 songs from his time as a Heartbreaker, a member of The Traveling Wilburys and founder of Mudcrutch. Then, there’s his solo career. Let’s not forget that (even though his fellow Heartbreakers were always present).

Come on in! It’s Tom Petty Month and the music’s just fine. When we started this, we saturated the airwaves for a couple of years. We’ve toned it down a bit. You’ll hear a couple of Petty things per week for a month. We’re ready to rock and roll and remember the leader of one of our House Bands.
