We’ve Got Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert, Bonnie Raitt’s AOW, and Jerry Jeff Walker In the Spotlight, Thursday, April 28, 2022

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We’ve got a great Thursday line-up as we slide toward the end of the work week this week. So, read on for all the details!

The revelers at Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert!

Here’s your Thursday line-up:

11:00 a.m. Bob Dylan & Friends: The 30th Anniversary Concert, Madison Square Garden, New York, October 16, 1992

Bob collected a few of his friends for this one, including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, George Harrison, The Band, Eric Clapton, Roger McGuinn, Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, Tracy Chapman, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, The O’Jays, and many more!

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Just Like That… by Bonnie Raitt

This marks the next-to-last airing of Bonnie Raitt’s great new album, her first in six years. The final will come sometime on Saturday, so get in on this one while you can.

7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Jerry Jeff Walker

We haven’t heard this for a while, and it is definitely time to break it out into the open again. Born Ronald Clyde Crosby, our friend Jerry Jeff knew he couldn’t cut it as one of the leaders of the country outlaw movement with that name. He is best known for writing the song Mr. Bojangles, but he was much more than that. My personal favorite album is It’s A Good Night For Singin’ and my all-time favorite JJW song is Very Short Time. Like it or not, we’re all on short time here.

Great collection of music here today. We’ve got all basic genres covered with the exception of Reggae, which we have plenty of in our daily stream. Join Germany, The Netherlands, Chile, Peru, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Greece, Australia, and points beyond today. It’s totally free, folks. Every day.

Another Monday Rolls Around and We Have Tom Rush In the Spotlight, Bob Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, and One More Airing of Highway Companion, July 26, 2021

Good Morning, Music Lovers! The cycle continues with another Monday here in The Mermaid Lounge. We’ve got some great programming to kick off the week.

We’ve got Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Celebration coming up later!

Here’s your Monday line-up:

11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Tom Rush

We haven’t aired this one for a while. It seems like a good time to me. Tom Rush is a local boy ’round these parts, born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He has made some excellent music over his long and storied career, and has launched many a singer-songwriter to fame and fortune.

3:00 p.m. Not the Album of The Week: Highway Companion by Tom Petty FINAL AIRING!

Yesterday was the actual release date fifteen years ago for Petty’s third and final solo album. We were pretty busy yesterday, so we thought we’d air it one final time today.

7:00 p.m. Bob Dylan & Friends: The 30th Anniversary Celebration

I was pretty much inspired by Chrissie Hynde’s Dylan’s covers album that is this week’s Album of The Week. The songs covered here are more of the well-known variety, but Dylan’s friend list is vast and this is a great concert with Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Chrissie Hynde, Roger McGuinn and many, many others. Not to be missed.
