As We Move Toward The Weekend, We’ve Got More Heartbreakers, Donovan’s AOW, and That ‘Other’ House Band (The Beatles) On Tap, Thursday, September 22, 2022

Good Morning! This is our House Band week and, as fate would have it, something fell right in our laps that we absolutely must take advantage of. However, you’ll all have to read on to find out what it is!

The Beatles and The Heartbreakers make a sandwich with Donovan’s Album of The Week!

Here’s Thursday’s musical landscape:

11:00 a.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at The Fillmore, San Francisco, Recorded January 10-February 7, 1997

If you’re a Pettyhead, and I am, you learned yesterday that there is a new piece of musical magic coming from beyond life on this earth. On November 25, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at The Fillmore box set will be released. Yes, our order is already in, folks and we eagerly anticipate delivery. However, we do have a previous release from that residency that’s pretty special and we are airing it here to day in celebration and anticipation!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Sunshine Superman by Donovan

We’re on our next-to-last airing here. This is Donovan at his most psychedelic as we continue our obsession with psychedelic music this month. Who knows where this will go next, but get this one in. Our final airing will be sometime on Saturday.

7:00 p.m. The Beatles Live From the Apple Records Rooftop, London, UK, January 30, 1969

Yes, the complete concert is here for your listening pleasure. It isn’t lengthy, but it is pretty fantastic, and it is the final live performance from the fab four before the split. We think it’s fitting that we open and close our programming today with our two House Bands. We’ve got a bit more in the hopper from them as the week progresses.

This is a great day to tune us in. What could be better? We’ve got The Beatles and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers together on the same day, and both are ‘live’ performances. Yeah, I’d say that’s a reason to join your friends from around the globe.

Happy Birthday, Lefty Wilbury, Plus Jefferson Airplane Live at The Matrix & The Beatles Live on The Rooftop, Monday, April 25, 2022

Good Morning, Musicologists! We’ve got three classic rock acts lined up for you today as we head into a brand new work week!

We’ve got the complete Beatles Apple Rooftop Concert later!

Here’s your Monday, Monday line-up:

11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Roy Orbison

Today we say Happy Birthday (April 23, actually), Lefty Wilbury, also known as The Big O and the Caruso of Rock. You can also call him Roy Orbison, friend of Tom, Bob, and George. Today we give you the full spectrum of Roy Orbison’s talents.

3:00 p.m. Jefferson Airplane Live at The Matrix Club, San Francisco, CA, February 1, 1968

We are truly paying homage to the bands we love so much here in The Mermaid Lounge today as we take you all the way back to 1968 for this great performance at The Matrix Club in San Francisco.

7:00 p.m. The Beatles Complete Apple Rooftop Concert, London, UK, January 30, 1969

It was short and, oh, so sweet. I would love to have been there for the final live performance ever by the Fab Four. The city was at a standstill, people were getting out of their cars to listen, and the Bobbies were clearly trying to figure out where the music was coming from. It was a great way to go out, as they say.

It’s Monday, so why not improve your prospects by tuning us in today! We’re giving you some great classic rock mixed in with all that great wide Open Stream. And it’s all for free, people. What could be better besides a long weekend?

It’s Open Stream All Day Long, Circulating 25,000+ Songs Until The Beatles Serenade Us Later on Wednesday, September 2, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s Wide-Open Wednesday here in The Mermaid Lounge, and we’re circulating 25,000+ plus songs, while we add even more today! A bit later on, we’ve got a visit from The Beatles.

Beatles Rock the Rooftop

Here’s our one and only bit of programming today!

6:00 p.m.   The Beatles’ Complete Apple Rooftop Concert: January 30, 1969

On a cold, windy day in January Beatle fans in London were treated to a free, impromptu concert by the band from the top of Apple Records headquarters at 3 Saville Row. People were hanging out windows and stood on balconies. Down below, the traffic came to a halt. A splendid time was guaranteed for all.

Tune us in today and see why we’re different. No credit card or personal information required. Just pull up a tab and chill.
