Smooth-as-silk Sam Cooke has been called the man who invented soul and the “King of Soul” because of the pioneering influence that he has had on the genre, including his unique vocals and songwriting style. He is our new featured singer-songwriter.

We’ve made it to the first day of the weekend (of course, some of us are retail slaves and have yet one more day), and that is a good thing. Now, you get to sit back and enjoy all that great music that helped get you through the week!

This is one of those fun albums that is made after many years in the business. Most of these songs have appeared on other of Harris’ albums or on her singing partner’s albums. (Linda Ronstadt has also made a Duets album and we will feature hers next week.) Helping Emmylou out this week are Don Williams, John Denver, Willie Nelson, The Desert Rose Band, George Jones, Gram Parsons, Roy Orbison and others. Enjoy.
