It’s another Tuesday Bluesday and we start out with ‘The Best of Chicago Blues,’ then it’s on to some live Lightnin’ Hopkins, a real treat, and The Heartbreakers getting their blues on later to close out the programming.

Nothing like those windy city blues with Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor, Lowell Fulson, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Son Seals, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Otis Spann, and more.

We’re in the Wayback Machine for this one, heading all the way back to 1964 for some great live music from Lightnin’ Hopkins.

8:00 p.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Sing The Blues UPDATED!

We’ve got one of the best bands on the planet, and the other half of our two-headed House Bands up tonight singing the blues. They not only cover the classics, but toss in their own brand as well. This was just updated to include a fantastic version of Mona, performed with Bo Diddly at The Heartbreakers’ 1999 residency at The Fillmore in San Francisco. You won’t want to miss that one.

We close out the evening with the biggest, baddest electric blues band on the planet with two of the greatest blues guitarists on the planet in Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. Her searing blues vocals complete the picture perfectly.
