It’s Tuesday Bluesday With The Second Half of Our Allman Brothers Extravaganza, Stevie Ray Vaughan In the Spotlight, and Our Album of The Week Sandwich, August 31, 2021

Good Morning, Bluesologists! Welcome back to another Tuesday Bluesday here in The Mermaid Lounge. We’ve got the second half of our Allman Brothers blues extravaganza today, and some SRV a bit later.

We’ve got Stevie Ray Vaughan In the Spotlight a bit later

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday line-up:

10:00 a.m. Martin Scorcese Presents The Blues: The Allman Brothers Band NEW!

This is the second half of what we began last week. We start an hour earlier today because it’s a bit longer than the first set. Essentially, we have round two of the brothers playing traditional blues songs. It’s a treat. Don’t miss it.

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Countdown to Ecstasy by Steely Dan

The second airing of this great album. We inject a bit of good old rock n’ roll (with a hint of jazz, of course) in the middle of all those blues.

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Stevie Ray Vaughan

Generations of guitar-loving kids are still discovering the magic of this guy. He has been described as a man of simple taste with impeccable style. We cover his music from both his time with Double Trouble and as a solo artist.

It goes without saying that before, in between, and after, we have open stream as determined by The Music Mermaid. She also has simple taste but impeccable style. We run 24/7 completely free of charge. All you need to do is pull up a computer tab. (Oh yeah, you can also tune us in on your phone.)

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday Line-Up:

11:00 a.m. Martin Scorcese Presents The Blues: The Allman Brothers Band, Volume 1 NEW!

This is from Scorcese’s ode to the blues. There’s a lot more where this came from, and this is just the first volume of the music from The Allman Brothers band, some of which has never been released in album form. The second volume will be aired next Tuesday morning, if you’re making notes on your musical calendar.

3:30 p.m. Album of The Week: Goin’ Home, A Tribute To Fats Domino: Various Artists

The second airing of this great tribute album featuring the likes of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Paul McCartney, Lucinda Williams, Corinne Bailey Rae, Willie Nelson, John Lennon and more.

7:00 p.m. Johnny Winter Live at The Hondarribia Blues Festival, Guipuzcoa, Spain, July 7, 2011

The late, great Johnny Winter, one of the most underrated bluesmen I’ve ever heard, makes his stand at this great blues music festival.

Tune us in. We already gave you all the good reasons in yesterday’s post, so I won’t repeat them hear. Simply check out the post above this one! We hate being repetitive.
