Good morning, bluesologists! Welcome to another Tuesday Bluesday with our big Chicago blues multi-artist EP and some ‘live’ James Cotton later. In between, it’s our AOW.

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Chicago Blues: Various Artists

Our big, bad Chicago blues EP is here with Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor, Lowell Fulson, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Son Seals, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Otis Spann and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Hums of The Lovin’ Spoonful by The Lovin’ Spoonful

The Lovin’ Spoonful take their second turn with their Album of The Week, a 1966 release that spawned four singles, including a #1 hit with Summer In The City.

7:00 p.m. James Cotton Live at Antoine’s Night Club, New Orleans, LA, Recorded July 1987

I’ve seen James Cotton a couple of times, once here in Boston and once on a business trip to Chicago, but there is surprisingly few ‘live’ James Cotton performances captured on tape. We do have this one, however, recorded at the famous Antoine’s in New Orleans sometime in July of 1987.

It’s always a busy day on Tuesday Bluesday. Jump on board with a bunch of blues lovers from around the globe. We’re on 24/7 at no charge and with no commercial interruptions. We do not require a ‘subscription’ and we don’t need any personal information. Just hit the button below.

Tuesday Bluesday is Here With ‘The Best of Chicago Blues’ EP, Our AOW, and a New Susan Tedeschi Spotlight Feature, on January 10, 2023

Happy Tuesday Bluesday, Bluesologists! We’re back and anticipating a full house today. It’s generally pretty busy on Tuesday. We have a brand new playlist closing out the programming this evening with Susan Tedeschi In the Spotlight.

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Chicago Blues: Various Artists

We’re back with our great Chicago Blues extended playlist. You’ll hear the music of Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor, Lowell Fulson, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Son Seals, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Otis Spann and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Abraxas by Santana

This is the only non-blues programming of the day. It’s the second airing of our Album of The Week by Santana, and it’s a beauty. It was their second studio album and their first to reach number one on the U.S. album charts.

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Susan Tedeschi NEW!

If you ask people about Susan Tedeschi, they’ll talk about the Tedeschi Trucks Band, one of the absolute best bands on the planet. Yet Boston-born and raised Susan Tedeschi had a solo career long before she met and married Derek Trucks, one of the best guitarists on the planet. Susan Tedeschi is one kick-ass vocalist, and tonight we give her a Spotlight featuring her solo stuff. (We also have a Tedeschi Trucks Spotlight and are putting together a Derek Trucks Band Spotlight in the next week or so.)

Here we are on another Tuesday Bluesday, and we are ready and raring to go here in The Mermaid Lounge. We are amping up our blues content in 2023, and we think you’re going to like it! Stick around.

Welcome to Tuesday Bluesday and Our Big ‘Best of Chicago Blues’ EP, Koko Taylor In the Spotlight, and The AOW to Start It All Off October 11, 2022

Good Morning, Bluesologists! Today we’ve got our big ‘Best of Chicago Blues’ EP along with Koko Taylor, The Queen of The Blues, In the Spotlight later. In between, it’s Dr. John’s AOW.

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Gris-Gris by Dr. John

The second airing of this great New Orleans R & B meets psychedelic voodoo album is here for your listening pleasure. It may not quite be the blues, but it sets the tone.

11:00 a.m. The Best of Chicago Blues: Various Artists

There’s nothing like a trip to Chicago to catch some blues. Been there on business several times and never failed to find a great venue to visit. You’ll hear from Otis Rush, Willie Dixon, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor, Lowell Fulson, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Magic Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson, Son Seals, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield, Elmore James, Jimmy Reed, Otis Spann and more!

7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Koko Taylor

Koko Taylor’s raw, powerful voice led to her title as Queen of The Blues. Koko was no delicate flower; she was a kic-ass, take-no-prisoners blues vocalist with attitude. And we love her in The Mermaid Lounge and give her the spotlight treatment today.

There’s nothing like Tuesday Bluesday to cut your teeth on a great radio station. We don’t infect the airwaves with commercial advertising or mouthy D.J.’s who like to talk through the first minute of every damned song. Instead, we rely on The Music Mermaid to take us through the day. As you know, she has impeccable taste in music.
