Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Louisiana Blues: Various Artists

We head to the bayou for some music from Ray Charles, Lillian Glinn, Slim Harpo, Ray Brown, Fats Domino, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Rodney Harris, Roosevelt Sykes, Shirley & Lee, Papa Lightfoot, Guitar Slim, Annie Laurie, Fats Matthews, Big Joe Turner, Big Boy Myles, Little Walter, Mary Butler, Erline Harris, Dave Bartholomew, Marcia Ball, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, the Neville Brothers, Irma Thomas and more!

Today we give props to a great bluesman and blues harp player in James Cotton, a man who was also in demand as a player on others’ albums and who began his musical career playing blues harp for Howlin’ Wolf.

8:00 p.m. Tedeschi Trucks Band Live at The Orpheum Theater, Madison, WI, March 18, 2015

This is, without a doubt, the biggest, baddest blues band on the planet with two of the greatest at the helm in Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. Make no mistake about it, if I were still doing big venue shows, they would be the first I attend. But I’m not. I’m not sure they could fit in a small venue, but if they could, I’d be there.

Nearly all of our blues music today comes to us from New Orleans, and that’s a good thing. New Orleans is a spectacular musical hotbed all the way around with a variety of musical styles, the blues being just one of them. We’ve got more coming from New Orleans later on this year. But let me reiterate that before, in between and after we give you that great wide Open Stream courtesy of The Music Mermaid. Tune us in.
