It’s Tuesday Bluesday With EC & Friends, Larkin Poe and Rick Danko Live With Paul Butterfield, October 29, 2024

Welcome to Tuesday Bluesday in The Mermaid Lounge where we have some really great stuff on tap, including a new-ish band that can really belt out the blues!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. Eric Clapton & Friends: The Crossroads Guitar Festival

Clapton hangs out with Sheryl Crow, Joe Walsh, ZZ Top, B.B. King, Doyle Bramhall II, Sonny Landreth, Jeff Beck, Susan Tedeschi, the Robert Cray Band, Gary Clark Jr., Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, J. J. Cale, Willie Nelson and others!

Led by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, the band started out with a third sister as a folk-rock band, but shifted to blues-rock after the original band broke up. With their great guitar work, particularly the steel guitar, they are often compared to the style of The Allman Brothers Band. Today, we put them In The Spotlight and you can learn more about them here.

8:00 p.m. Rick Danko & Paul Butterfield Live at The Blue Note, Boulder, CO, December 13, 1979

Today we’ve got two legends to close out Tuesday Bluesday programming as Rick Danko (The Band) joins the legendary Paul Butterfield on stage for a live performance at The Blue Note.

Again, we’re here playing tunes 24/7 at no cost to the listening public and with absolutely NO commercial advertsing. We’re all about the music and The Button is below.

We’ve Got Not Just One, But Two, New Tuesday Bluesday Features Today Plus Our Album of The Week, December 7, 2021

Happy Tuesday, Bluesologists! We’ve got some great new blues material for you today, and both features are brand new to The Mermaid Lounge!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday line-up:

11:00 a.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Delbert McClinton NEW!

One of the great blues-rock and electric bluesmen of his generation is In the Spotlight today. He’s also a multi-instrumentalist and a singer-songwriter. And today we feature the best of a career that has spanned six decades.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Smiley Smile by The Beach Boys

We take a short break in the blues programming to feature a theoretical 19-song album that would have been simply called Smile had it not been abandoned by the Beach Boys. I know. It’s all very complicated. You can learn more about it if you look back on Sunday’s post! Or you can simply click on the sidebar Album of The Week image.

7:00 p.m. Rick Danko & Paul Butterfield Live From The Blue Note, Boulder, Colorado, December 13, 1979 NEW!

This is a great collaboration here between two late greats, Rick Danko of The Band and eminent bluesman Paul Butterfield. We have them ‘live’ together from The Blue Note here.

Every Tuesday is Bluesday here in The Mermaid Lounge. As such, this is a great day for you to join listeners from around the world. I mean, we’re totally free. Doesn’t cost you a penny. No effort beyond pulling up a tab and tuning in. No commercials. And no bullshit.
