We’re Over the Hump and Heading for the Weekend With Our AOW, Some Wide Open Stream and the Final Summer Of Love Playlist on Thursday, March 16, 2023

Good morning, music lovers! We are over the midweek hump and heading for nirvana as we give you plenty of wide Open Stream sandwiched between some excellent programming.

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Hot Chili Mama by BeauSoleil

We’re on the downslide with this great Cajun and Zydeco album by BeauSoleil, often called the greatest Cajun band in the world. Our final airing will be sometime on Saturday, so don’t miss your opportunity!

10:00 a.m. Open Stream with The Music Mermaid

Right after the airing of our AOW, we begin several hours of wide Open Stream courtesy of our Music Mermaid. Who knows what she’ll get you into, but she’s got 30,000 music files to choose from, so there will be no repeats.

7:00 p.m. Summer of Love, Volume Three: Various Artists

Tonight we give you the final installment of our Summer of Love Series. For the record, the SOL was not 1969. I believe that myth exists because of Woodstock. The actual Summer of Love was in 1967, but no matter because you will hear The Mamas & The Papas, The Rascals, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Jackie Wilson, Donovan, The Turtles, Vanilla Fudge, The Association, The Doors, The Youngbloods, Lulu, Buffalo Springfield and more!

Speaking of love. What’s not to love here? We are on 24/7 and we’re totally free. We’re also free of commercial advertising. Get on board.

Good Morning, Listeners! Today is a totally Open Stream day here in The Mermaid Lounge right up until early evening, when we air our latest Album of The Week.

Here’s today’s line up!

All Day Open Stream: The Music Mermaid

The Music Mermaid is in charge all day today, rotating our 27,000 song catalogue and, perhaps, tossing in a playlist or two. Perhaps. It’s entirely in her ocean today.

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Linda Ronstadt, The Stone Poneys & Friends, Volume III

This is our second to last airing of this album, The Stone Poneys’ the third and final studio effort released in 1968 before Linda Ronstadt strikes out on her own to become the Queen of Rock for the next decade.

It’s An Open Stream Day Today With One Vital Exception Later, Friday, May 7, 2021

Good Morning, Kids! It’s a wide Open Stream Day today and the venerable Music Mermaid is in charge while I am in retail hell…until just a bit later when we celebrate an important musical event in our books.

The Mamas & The Papas’ Monday Monday went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1966

Here is your line-up:

All Day Open Stream: Circulating 27,000 Classic Hits All Day

The Music Mermaid is in full control today, circulating all of our music as she sees fit. Pay attention. She may even pick up a program or two along the way. It’s entirely up to her.

7:00 p.m. Echoes From The Canyon: Various Artists

On this day in 1966, the sounds of Laurel Canyon were heard loud and clear as Monday, Monday went to number one for The Mamas & The Papas. In celebration, we are playing one of our favorite playlists featuring not only them, but also Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Doors, CSNY, Joni Mitchell, and more!

Tune us in today and you’ll see what we’re all about, aside from being not-for-profit, 24/7 uninterrupted by advertising, and not interested in your credit card number or personal information.

Merry Christmas to All From The Mermaid Lounge, Home of #BecomeUngovernable Radio, Friday, December 25, 2020

Good Morning, Music Lovers everywhere and a very Merry Christmas here from all of us here laboring in the lounge. Today, we are not forcing you into a music lesson (we will be back tomorrow), and there is no programming!

It’s all on the Mermaid today as we celebrate St. Nick on TOTALLY Open Stream. Whatever the Music Mermaid chooses is what you get! In the meantime, in the background here, we will be adding new music and playlists that you will begin hearing tomorrow!

Get on it. The Music Mermaid is running the show today.

For those of you who don’t know how the Music Mermaid works, she’s fully in charge and picks up music from our stream randomly. What does that mean? Well, she could, and has in the past, literally pick up and stream, say, a playlist. For example, she could choose to play Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live in Lucca, Italy, or The Beatles Complete Rooftop Concert. In short, whatever the Mermaid fancies is what she’ll do.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day and that you choose to spend at least part of it here with us, where we do not play Christmas music. It’s Christmas every day here.
