Infinity (Mostly) Open Stream

We’re circulating more than 25,000 songs daily. Today, we are mostly on open stream until late afternoon.

4:00 p.m. The Bluesiana Triangle: Dr. John, Art Blakeley, and David “Fathead” Newman

Does the blues get any better than this? I dunno. But if it’s good for Dr. John, The Nitetripper, it’s good for me.

The Lovin’ Spoonful, Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions, and It’s An Album Two-Fer on Sunday, May 3, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s Sunday Funday, and we’ve got not one — but two — albums on tap rather unexpectedly today!

The Lovin Spoonful-3

Here’s today’s line-up:

10:00 a.m.   NOT The Album of the Week: You’re Gonna Get It by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (1978)   NEW!

I discovered quite by chance yesterday that this album was released 42 years ago, on May 2, 1978. It is just the second studio album by The Heartbreakers, and resulted in two massive hits in Listen To Her Heart and I Need to Know. We thought it would be a great idea to slip this one in today!

1:00 p.m.    In the Spotlight: The Music of The Lovin’ Spoonful

One of the great bands from that Echoes in the Canyon era of days gone by.

5:00 p.m.    Album of the Week: Running On Empty by Jackson Browne (1977)  NEW!

In my humble opinion, this is not only one of Jackson Browne’s best albums, but one of the best of all time. I wore this thing out. Running on Empty was released in 1977, peaked on the Billboard charts at #3 in 1978, and stayed there for 65 weeks.  The theme was life on the road, and was recorded live on stage, backstage, on tour buses, or in hotel rooms.

8:00 p.m.    We Shall Overcome: Bruce Springsteen’s Pete Seeger Sessions

This collection of traditional folk songs arranged by Springsteen was released in 2006. Springsteen called on a group of lesser-known musicians from New York and New Jersey to put together this album. It also resulted in a 62-city tour.

No commercials. No fees. No credit card required. No politicians. No bullshit. That’s us.
