It’s Another (Mostly) Open-Stream Wednesday With Warren Zevon In The Spotlight, and The Shadow Coming Up Later, on December 2, 2020

Good Morning, Musicologists! Here we are with another (Mostly) Open-Stream Wednesday where we circulate 26,000+ songs every day, including Three-in-Rows, for your listening pleasure.

Warren Zevon, no ordinary singer-songwriter.

Here’s is your mid-week line-up!

All Day Open Stream: Circulating 26,000+ Songs With Three-in-a-Row Interludes!

We’ve got our library wide open and streaming right up until our first bit of programming for the day! You’ll hear three-in-a-row’s from your favorites as you stream through the day.

6:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Warren Zevon

Today we put Warren Zevon’s considerable musical talents In The Spotlight. He wasn’t just a songwriter; he was also a hell of a performer. Warren’s demons notwithstanding (drugs, alcohol, partying, and the resulting blackouts), Zevon managed to put together an incredible musical career. We love this guy’s music in The Mermaid Lounge.

9:00 p.m. The Shadow, Episode 1: Aboard The Steamship Amazon NEW!

Today we kick off our Winter Suspense Series with The Shadow. Find out what happens to the unsuspecting passengers upon the luxury cruise ship Amazon, which is being used to smuggle munitions for a band of revolutionaries. We’re certainly not going to tell you. You’re going to have to tune it in.

If you tune us in early, you’ll certainly get more than a flavor for what we’re all about musically. We are free. No strings. No credit card required, and no personal information requested.

Jerry Jeff Walker is in The Spotlight, Open Stream Afternoon, and Echoes From the Canyon Later, Friday, November 6, 2020

Good Morning, Escape Artists! Listen, this (s)election process is a fucking bust all the way around. You need to be here listening to great music with no (s)election updates. None. We’ve only got great music to offer you.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young with Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves.

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Jerry Jeff Walker NEW!

Jerry Jeff Walker originated the idea of the ‘country music outlaw’ back in the day, and he lived it. He made some really great music, and he was just a blast to see in concert. I saw him a couple of times, the most memorable was when he opened for Little Feat at the old Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge. A splended time was had by all that evening.

Afternoon Open Stream with Three-in-a-Row Interludes

Enjoy your afternoon with a bunch of our new Three-in-a-Row interludes thrown in. We’re not like any other station out there. We’re circulating 26,000 songs at present. No favorites. No weighting the playlist. At work, we listen to an open 60s music station all day. It’s great. But it’s essentially the same playlist every day. That’s not us.

7:00 p.m. Echoes From The Canyon: Various Artists

The Laurel Canyon music scene is the stuff legends are born from. When you get that many talented people together in one place, it’s legendary status is almost guaranteed. Hear Neil Young, The Mamas & The Papas, The Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jackson Browne and many others.

Every day is a good day to tune us in. We have folks in Europe that keep us going for days on end. They know a good thing when they hear it.

Here’s today’s line-up:

Infinity (Mostly) Open Stream Wednesday

We’ve got one of the best music streams we’ve ever heard, frankly. And today you’ll have some great Three-in-a-Row sequences thrown in.

6:00 p.m. The Petty Bootleg Archives NEW!

‘Nuff said. We’ve got our hands on some great quality fan-recorded material here in The Mermaid Lounge, so stick around. You won’t regret it. We will also have the playlist up in the blog later in the day.

It’s Tuesday Bluesday! We’ve Got Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones, Open Stream Afternoon With Three-in-a-Row Blues Jams, and The Heartbreakers Sing the Blues Later, October 27, 2020

Good Morning, Blues Lovers! We’ve got a full slate of blues magic today, including our new Three-in-a-Row feature loaded with the blues!

Muddy & Mick get down at The Checkerboard Lounge!

Here’s today’s bluesy line-up:

12:00 p.m. Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live From The Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago, November 22, 1981

Does it get any better than this? The blues are in the Stones’ DNA! This is a great little interlude from the Windy City.

Afternoon Open Stream with Special Three-in-a-Row Blues Jams

We’re open streaming in the afternoon until just about 7:00 p.m. We’ll have special Three-in-a-Row Blues Jams all day from Canned Heat, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more!

7:00 p.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Sing The Blues

Tom Petty once remarked that he’d like it if The Heartbreakers could just get old together sitting in chairs and playing the blues. We would have loved that too. In the meantime, The Heartbreakers certainly could sing and play the blues indeed, and here’s the proof.

It’s time you tuned us in. Listen, you have absolutely nothing to lose. Nada. There are no charges. Ever. There is no need to give us any of your personal information. We don’t ask for it. We don’t require a credit card because there are no hidden charges. Get with the program.

We Set Up the Weekend Petty Party With a Trip Through Live Anthology, and Put Emmylou In The Spotlight, Thursday, October 22, 2020

And did we mention our new Three-in-a-Row feature here in The Mermaid Lounge? Listen for it throughout the day here as you enjoy our minimal-intervention format.

Emmylou Harris. What more needs to be said about this woman?

Here’s Thursday’s line-up!

11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Emmylou Harris

I’m not sure what words can be used to describe Emmylou Harris’ brilliant musical journey. I can say this with a chuckle. I never paid any attention to country music on any level until I heard Elite Hotel. I remember distinctly saying to my oldest sister, “There’s something wrong with me. I’m suddenly into country music.”It was a great awakening, thanks to Emmylou. (But, oh, yeah: I’m not into the “bad pop bands with fiddles” as described by Tom Petty. He got the whole country thing.)

7:00 p.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: The Live Anthology Trip

This live release is amazing. You get to hear stuff you might not otherwise hear in a live format, and you get to hear one of the greatest cover bands as they shove all those classic rock n’ roll numbers into their live shows. Enjoy this as we prepare for Petty’s Birthday Bash this weekend.

I’m a person of few words this morning. I’m not going to bug you about tuning us in. No sir. Your loss. Know what I mean?
