Open Stream in the Morning; The Flying Burrito Brothers and Maria Muldaur Bring Up the Rear on Friday, September 11, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Here we are on another Friday, getting ready for the weekend, and we’ve got some great music to usher in the weekend after an open stream kind of morning.

Here’s today’s line-up:

3:00 p.m. The Flying Burrito Brothers Live From My Father’s Place, Old Roslyn, New York, November 28, 1976 NEW!

The Flying Burrito Brothers were founded in Los Angeles in 1968 by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman. They have undergone many personnel changes over the years, but are best remembered for their influential early work in country rock, and their debut album The Gilded Palace of Sin (1969).

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Maria Muldaur

Maria Muldaur is a folk and blues singer, who was an influential part of the folk music revival of the 1960s. Sometimes the general public overlooks her incredible body of work, but her peers do not.

So, let’s get this show on the road. Are you doing to tune us in or what? Let’s get real, people! We are totally outside the system.

Duane Allman & Eric Clapton Rock the Studio, Love is For Losers, and Our Album of The Week, Thursday, September 10, 2020

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We have Duane Allman and Eric Clapton jamming at Criterion Studios, a playlist for those losers in love out there (myself included, by the way), and our Album of the Week.

Two Guitar Gods join forces in the studio!

Here’s today’s programming line-up:

11:00 a.m. Duane Allman & Eric Clapton Studio Jams 1 Thru 6

One day Duane Allman was working at Criterion Studios when Eric Clapton and his band, Derek & The Dominos, dropped by to record. They were introduced and the rest is history. The result became known as The Layla Sessions.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Heaven Is In Your Mind by Traffic

You can learn the history of this great album, or any of our AOW selections, by simply clicking on the album cover image in the right sidebar!

7:00 p.m. Nothing But Heartbreak: Various Artists

“I been through diamonds! I been through minks! I been through it all! Love Stinks!” J. Geils’ lament is just one of the songs for the lovelorn you’ll hear on today’s featured playlist!

So, again, I’m wondering what the people in the U.S. are waiting for. Europe, Asia and other far-flung locations are all over this radio station. As usual, the toddlers are running behind. We’re free. We require no information. All you need to do is pull up a tab. Seriously.
