We Put Both Roy Orbison and The Temptations In the Spotlight, Give You the Final Airing of ‘Medicine At Midnight’ by the Foos, and Later “Live Dead,” Saturday, April 24, 2021

Good Morning, Kids! It’s another Saturday in The Mermaid Lounge and we’ve got some great programming again. Saturday is one of our heaviest programming days, but we don’t get carried away. There is plenty of wide Open Stream on tap every day here.

Happy Belated Birthday to the late great (and former Wilbury) Roy Orbison.

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Roy Orbison

Yesterday was Roy Orbison’s birthday. The man was a musical marvel with that great 5-octave voice. It should also be noted that he was a former member of the greatest supergroup in popular music history, The Traveling Wilburys. In honor of Roy, we put him In the Spotlight today.

4:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of The Temptations

We have two spotlights today as we also focus on The Temptations, one of the greatest R & B bands of the sixties and seventies. We’ll consider this a warm-up for the introduction of next weekend’s launch of our new long-playing A Little Bit O’Soul playlist (May 1).

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Medicine At Midnight by Foo Fighters

Today we also offer up the final airing of the Foo Fighters’ newest album, Medicine At Midnight. Tomorrow when you roll out of bed, we’ll have a brand new selection for you.

10:00 p.m. Live Dead! The Grateful Dead Live at The World Amphitheatre, Tinley Park, Illinois, July 21, 1990 NEW!

Of course, we have our usual airing of Live Dead, this one was the opening of a three-night stand at The World Amphitheatre in Tinley Park. More magic from one of the world’s greatest road bands.

Come on, folks. Tune us in. We’re not-for-profit and outside the system. Join your European and Asian friends this morning by clicking the link below.
