Monday Puts Us ‘Between Heaven & Hell,’ We Have New ‘Live’ Ry Cooder, and Volume One of Our Summer of Love Playlist, June 21, 2021

We’re back to another Monday (sometimes it’s a Moan-day) here in The Mermaid Lounge, and we’ve got some great programming here for you today, including some new Ry Cooder.

We feature our very first live performance by Ry Cooder today!

Here’s Monday’s programming:

11:00 a.m. Between Heaven & Hell: Various Artists

Sometimes life is like that; it resides somewhere between heaven and hell. Just ask Donovan, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, The Byrds, Z.Z. Top, Van Morrison, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Presley, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Fats Domino, Foo Fighters, and The Grateful Dead. You’ll hear all them and more!

3:00 p.m. Ry Cooder Live From The Record Plant, Sausalito, California, July 7, 1974 NEW!

Today we feature one of our favorites live in Ry Cooder, guitarist extraordinaire. He is joined on stage by Jim Dickinson on bass and the legendary Jim Keltner (Buster Sidebury) on drums. This marks the first live performance we’ll be airing from this guy, and we hope to have more. Linda Ronstadt calls Ry Cooder the greatest guitarist she’s ever met. That’s saying plenty as she has performed with some of the best on the planet over her long career.

7:00 p.m. The Summer of Love, Volume One: Various Artists

It’s summer again, so it’s only fitting that we embark on our three-volume Summer of Love playlist set this week. You’ll hear Volume One today with music from Scott McKenzie, Procol Harum, The Doors, the Spencer Davis Group, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Yardbirds, and many more!

Come on, people. What the hell are you waiting for anyway? A written invitation? I’ve been doing that every day since I started writing this damned blog! We are free, not-for-profit, do not run any advertising, and play the best music on the planet. Tune us in. Please.
