Today We Have Amy Winehouse Live, John Mayall With Our Album of The Week, and The Final Volume of Our Summer of Love Series, Thursday, June 24, 2021

Good Morning, Musicologists. We’ve got some sweeeet programming lined up for today, including some “live” Amy Winehouse from Porchester Hall.

Today we feature Amy Winehouse live from Porchester Hall.

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. Amy Winehouse Live From Porchester Hall, London, March 8, 2007 NEW!

From our perspective, Amy Winehouse was a throwback, combining an eclectic mix of R & B, soul, and jazz, and delivering it all with a great contralto voice. We will soon be adding all of Amy’s music to our standard rotation, and are seeking out some additional live performances.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Blues From Laurel Canyon by John Mayall

We are winding down on our current Album of The Week with our second to last airing. The final airing will be on Saturday. Don’t miss this great album, released just after the Bluesbreaker’s unfortunate demise.

7:00 p.m. The Summer of Love, Volume Three: Various Artists

This is the third and final piece of our Summer of Love Trifecta, with Jackie Wilson, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Lulu, Buffalo Springfield, Donovan, The Bee Gees, Wilson Pickett, Vanilla Fudge, The Association, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes, The Miracles, and more!

Tune in. Turn on. Drop out. Oh, wait. It’s not the weekend yet. But it’ll be here soon. In the meantime, you can still tune in our great radio station and enjoy the mix.

We’re at Midweek With Some New Creedence, Bonnie Raitt & Friends Live, and Volume Two of Our Summer of Love, June 23, 2021

Good Morning, Musicologists! We’re already at midweek and we’ve got some great music for you here today, including some live Creedence at The Fillmore!

We jump into the programming with CCR Live at The Fillmore!

Here’s your midweek line-up:

11:00 a.m. Creedence Clearwater Revival Live at The Fillmore, San Francisco, July 4, 1971 NEW!

Today we have the first live playlist from one of our absolute favorite bands here in The Mermaid Lounge, Creedence Clearwater Revival. Creedence pumped out some of the best rock n’ roll swamp music on the planet, sounding just like they were born on the bayou, even though they were four guys from Berkeley, California. This concert is another that was broadcast on KSAN.

3:00 p.m. Bonnie Raitt & Friends Live From Ultrasonic Studios, New York, October 17, 1972

Bonnie Raitt gets together with Lowell George of Little Feat, her bassist, Freebo, and bluesman John Hammond, for a little party at Ultrasonic Studios curated and broadcast by influential rock radio station WLIR-FM on Long Island. A great version of Blind Faith’s Can’t Find My Way Home is included.

7:00 p.m. The Summer of Love, Volume Two: Various Artists

We skipped this volume yesterday because it was Tuesday Bluesday, but we have volume two here for you today, with music from The Jefferson Airplane, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Manfred Mann, Jimi Hendrix, Bobbie Gentry, The Turtles, The Byrds, Stevie Wonder, The Rascals and more!

We’re kicking some ass today here in The Mermaid Lounge and would like you to tune us in. Join your friends online today from The Faroe Islands, Sweden, Spain, The Russian Federation, France, Germany (always), Italy and Portugal. All you need is a computer tab.
