It’s Tuesday Bluesday Here With The James Cotton Band Live, and Marcia Ball In the Spotlight Later, September 21, 2021

Good Morning, Bluesologists! It’s Tuesday Bluesday in The Mermaid Lounge and we’ve got two new playlists for you today. In between is Gram Parsons with our Album of The Week.

We put Marcia Ball In the Spotlight today, where she belongs.

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday line-up:

11:00 a.m. The James Cotton Band: Live and On The Move NEW!

A collection of live songs from various locations from the master of the blues harmonica, James Cotton, and his great band: Charles Calmese (Bass), Kenny Johnson (Drums), Mike “Captain Z” Zaitchik (Keyboards), Matt “Guitar” Murphy (Lead Guitar), and George T. Gregory (Saxophone). This is widely considered the best of Cotton’s live recordings.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons

We take a break and delve into country-rock here with the second airing of Grievous Angel.

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Marcia Ball NEW!

This seemed like the perfect time to make this long-awaited spotlight happen, and I promise it will be updated. We are still in the process of adding Marcia Ball’s music to our rotation. Marcia Ball is a kick-ass blues singer and a piano master. She has been around for a while, but doesn’t get the attention she so richly deserves. Born and raised in Louisiana, her style has been described as “where Texas stomp rock and Louisiana swamp blues meet.” You’re going to like her if you don’t already know her.

Tuesday Bluesday is always a great entry point for your musical ship to come in. Give us a listen today and see why. Before, in between, and after, we’ve got all that great wide Open Stream. At no charge to you whatsoever, and without those nasty commercials to interrupt the flow.
