Good Morning, Musicologists! We’re getting closer to the weekend now, and that’s a good thing. We’ve got some great stuff to help you get through your Thursday.
Here’s today’s programming:
11:00 a.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Petty Theft, The Covers
The same qualities that make The Heartbreakers such a great original rock n’ roll band also make them a great cover band. According to Mike Campbell, the songs that they cover come from the artists who are part of their overall musical DNA. We think it shows. This is a great set. Enjoy.
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
We’re winding down on this week’s album selection. This is our second-to-last airing of Grievous Angel before we move on to another album on Sunday.
7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Maria Muldaur
Maria Muldaur is a woman of many musical styles, including folk, jazz, and blues. She began her career in the coffee houses of Greenwich Village during the great American folk music revival of the sixties, and has forged a six-decade career. Today we put her music in the spotlight, where it belongs.
