We Keep It Simple on Tuesday Bluesday With Our Uninterrupted Blues Extravaganza and Bobbie Gentry With Our AOW Later, May 24, 2022

Good Morning, Bluesologists. Our ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blues’ EP is back, and it’s our major musical programming feature of the day. Get on it.

It’s Tuesday Bluesday and B.B. King is just one of the blues greats you’ll hear today!

Here’s your programming:

11:00 a.m. Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blues: Various Artists

It’s just over five hours of uninterrupted blues music from B. B. King (and his sidekick, Lucille), Delbert McClinton, Little Walter, Slim Harpo, Ry Cooder, Canned Heat, John Lee Hooker, The Animals, Albert King, Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Little Feat, Bonnie Raitt, The Yardbirds, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Bobby “Blue” Bland, The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elmore James, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Robert Cray Band, J.J. Cale, Tedeschi Trucks Band, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Koko Taylor, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, James Cotton, Susan Tedeschi, Marcia Ball, Roomful of Blues, Howlin’ Wolf, Linda Ronstadt, Tracy Nelson, and more!

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: The Delta Sweete by Bobbie Gentry

This is the second airing of this week’s AOW, Bobbie Gentry’s ambitious concept album about life growing up in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. In truth, Bobbie Gentry didn’t want to sing. She wanted to write songs for other people and remain in the background. Her songwriting prowess is fully on show here, as is her sultry, bluesy voice.

We’ve got Chile, the Netherlands, the UK, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, Russian Federation, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and many points beyond already tuned in this morning. Why not join them?
