Good morning, music lovers and welcome to Friday, where we celebrate the women of music with our ‘Ladies Day Out’ EP for starters. Then, it’s Janis live at Winterland Ballroom and a new Brandi Carlile Spotlight feature.

Here’s your musical lineup:

4:00 p.m. Janis Joplin Live at Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco, CA, April 12, 1968
We’ve got Janis Joplin captured live during a two-night residency at the famed Winterland Ballroom this afternoon.
8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Brandi Carlile NEW!
I’ve been listening to and loving Brandi Carlile’s music for a while now and this has been a long time coming. Watching her perform the late, great John Prine’s Angel From Montgomery with one of my musical idols, Bonnie Raitt, during Mothership just this month certainly gave me the impetus to get this done. Her music has also been added to our standard rotation.
We’re here and it’s all about the women of music today. I don’t think there’s another music station on the planet that focuses on women like we do. That was one of our original intentions when we started this thing. Best of all, we’re on 24/7, we’re free, and there’s no commercial advertising. We’re not even tempted.
