Led by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, the band started out with a third sister as a folk-rock band, but shifted to blues-rock after the original band broke up. With their great guitar work, particularly the steel guitar, they are often compared to the style of The Allman Brothers Band. She’s a (primarily) folk singer, songwriter, guitar and piano player who is known for her stripped-down songwriting style. Her songs have been covered by many singers, including Emmylou Harris, Rory Block and Bette Midler. 4:00 p.m. The Band Live at The Academy of Music, New York, NY, December 28-31, 1971

Surely one of the most incredible bands ever to grace the music world. The Band went from being Dylan’s back-up band to being one of the most influential acts in rock music history. Why were they called simply ‘The Band’? Because that’s what everyone referred to them as when they were backing Dylan. It stuck.

8:00 p.m. Bonnie Raitt Live at The Rainbow Room, Sigma Sound Studios, Philadelphia, PA, February 22, 1972

We close out the programming portion of our day with early Bonnie Raitt at Sigma Sound in Philly, hanging out and singing in The Rainbow Room.
