Welcome to Midweek, Music Lovers! Last evening we worked on an expanded house playlist and we think you’re going to love it! Stick around and see for yourself!

Here’s your mid-week line-up:

11:00 a.m. #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists NEWLY EXPANDED!

We spent some time on our house playlist and it definitely has that peace, love, understanding, social justice and revolution vibe. We’ve got a bunch of great artists including The Beatles, Country Joe & The Fish, CSNY, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Cat Stevens, James Brown, Sam Cooke, The Band, Woody Guthrie, Donovan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lennon, Nina Simone, Peter, Paul & Mary, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Buffalo Springfield, Phil Ochs, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and many more! It is now officially one of our EP’s and another upgrade is in the wind for down the road.

7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Hollies

Undoubtedly one of the great British Invasion bands. We haven’t heard this one for a while, so it’s long overdue.

Before, in between and after we have wide Open Stream courtesy of The Music Mermaid. Sounds like a pretty good day to open those ears to something completely different in radio!

Sunday in The Mermaid Lounge Brings Volume Two of Our Sixties Rotation, and Gram Parsons With Our Album of The Week, September 19, 2021

It’s a great day in The Mermaid Lounge because we bring you the music that inspired us to start this station to begin with. We focus on the 60’s and deliver a brand new Album of The Week as well.

The Sixties are back starting at 3:00 p.m. EST!

Here’s your Sunday programming!

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons NEW!

Gram Parsons never lived long enough to see just how influential he truly was. He died at the age of 26 from multiple drug use in a Joshua Tree, California, on this very day (September 19) in 1973. It’s only fitting we pay him tribute with our Album of The Week.

Parsons was a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist who played with The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, The International Submarine Band, and as a solo artist. He also collaborated with Emmylou Harris and, in spite of the rumors, they were not lovers. Their connection was music. She, of course, went on to become a country-rock legend.

Gram Parsons brought country to rock n’ roll and helped forge the country-rock genre in the same way that Bob Dylan brought folk to rock. He was that influential in a very short lifetime.

3:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

We’re back with the music that helped to bring us to live here in The Mermaid Lounge. This volume focuses more on the mid-to-late sixties. You will hear The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin (with and without her various bands), The Four Tops, Roy Orbison, The Yardbirds, James Brown, The Box Tops, Vanilla Fudge, Sly & The Family Stone, The Doors, The Zombies, and many more. It’s over five hours of sixties music!

We’re waiting for you here in The Mermaid Lounge where we are all about the music. We are free to all, accept absolutely no advertising, and employ only one DJ. We do not require a “subscription” or your credit card number. We also do not seek out your personal information. What the hell are you waiting for?

It’s Sunday and The Wallflowers Own Our Album of The Week, While Our Extended Play Sixties Set List Starts This Afternoon, July 11, 2021

Good Morning, Gang! Here we are again on another Sunday in The Mermaid Lounge. We had a bit of an interruption in the flow with Fillmore Fest earlier in the month, but we’re back on track now!

The Wallflowers are back with their first new album in ten years and its our Album of The Week!

Here’s your Sunday Funday line-up:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Exit Wounds by The Wallflowers NEW!

This guy is my personal songwriting favorite in the post-Petty era. Jakob Dylan recently gave an interview, in fact, in which he said that his friend Tom Petty loomed large over this album, his first in ten years with The Wallflowers. We are certainly glad they are back.

3:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

The music that inspired me to start this radio station is back for another uninterrupted five-hour stint today. We had a minor delay to pay honor to The Fillmore, but we are back on track now. This is the music that covers the mid-to-late sixties with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Janis Joplin (with and without Big Brother), The Kinks, The Grateful Dead, The Chambers Brothers, Melanie, The Temptations, The Stone Poneys (featuring Linda Ronstadt), The Band, Bob Dylan, The Four Tops, Cream, Derek & The Dominos, Scott McKenzie, The Mamas & The Papas, and many, many others.

Get off to an early start. We already have people listening in from the UK, France, Denmark, the Russian Federation, The Faroe Islands (look them up; it’s real), Switzerland, Germany, and our home base in the U.S. All are welcome. We’re free. There’s no commercial interruption, and no credit card required. All you need is a computer tab.

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of “Hard Promises” Followed by Our House Playlist, Wednesday, May 5, 2021

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We have another light programming day on tap. But what we have to offer is pretty potent, including our House playlist.

Today we bring you some of the music that inspired the radio station!

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. Not Our Album of The Week: Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Hard Promises by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers NEW!

This is an occasional feature here in The Mermaid Lounge. Today we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hard Promises, released on May 5, 1981. It’s hard to imagine an album this good coming right on the heels of The Heartbreakers’ breakout album, Damn The Torpedoes! (last week’s Album of The Week, by the way), but it did.

It’s true that The Waiting was the anchor of Hard Promises, but there’s also A Woman In Love (It’s Not Me), Nightwatchman, A Thing About You, Something Big, Insider (featuring Stevie Nicks), and one of my favorite Heartbreaker songs of all time, Kings Road.

4:00 p.m. #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

This is nearly three hours of the music that originally inspired me to start this crazy endeavor to begin with. It is due for an upgrade soon, but it’s still one of the best playlists we feature with Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Animals, The Byrds, The Who, The Chambers Brothers, The Temptations, John Lennon, T. Rex, Barry McGuite, Edwin Starr, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joan Baez, Peter Tosh, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and more!

Tune in. Turn on. Drop out. It’s midweek. We all need a break. This is the perfect opportunity, is it not?
