We Close Out The Work Week With Our Multi-Artist ‘House EP’ and The Beatles’ Transformation Years on Friday, July 22, 2022

Good Morning, Beatles Lovers! Not only do we have part two of our Beatles triple play a bit later, but we’ve got our very own #BecomeUngovernable House EP to get you through the day.

We’ve got our feet firmly planted in our DNA today!

Here’s what you’re listening to on this fine day:

10:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

Today we’ve got just over five hours of music that makes up this station’s DNA, including a fair amount of socially conscious music, something sorely lacking today. You’ll hear Barry McGuire, The Temptations, The Beatles, Edwin Starr, Peter Tosh, Genesis, T-Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, , Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Years After, The Plastic Ono Band, Billy Joel, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Richie Havens, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Nina Simone and more!

7:00 p.m. The Beatles: The Transformation Years

Undoubtedly the most creative of all times in their career which, frankly, wasn’t a very long one. Wings lasted longer than The Beatles, but nobody had the influence on music that The Beatles had in a short period of time, and perhaps no band will ever repeat that feat again. We’ve got music here from about the time of Rubber Soul to the latter part of the sixties.

Great day to be here. It’s hot as Hades out there today. And not getting any less ugly either as this promises to carry into the weekend. Stay cool with us here in The Mermaid Lounge as we play the greatest music on the planet. All free of charge and free of commercial interruption.

The Weekend is Knocking and We’ve Got ‘The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist’ EP, and Lukas Nelson and Promise of The Real Later, on Friday, June 24, 2022

Good Morning, Musicologists! We are cookin’ today with our very own House playlist, which is also an EP, so that means five hours of great uninterrupted music. As we say, there is music that has inspired this station, and we have lots of it today. Later on, we have Lukas Nelson & POTR to take you into the night.

Starts today at 11:00 a.m.

Here’s Friday’s lineup:

11:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

Yes, music lovers, it’s our very own House EP full of great music from Barry McGuire, The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Peter Tosh, The Beatles, Genesis, T. Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Year’s After, The Plastic Ono Band, Billy Joel, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Richie Havens, Marvin Gaye, Phil Ochs, The Association, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Nina Simone, and more!

7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real UPDATED!

Here’s a great little country rock band that’s fronted by Willie’s boy, Lukas. Any band that does road duty with Neil Young is okay with us. But POTR is a band in its own right as well, so give them a listen.

Here we are again on the cusp of another weekend, and we’re starting it off with a great extended playlist here. Before, in between, and after our programming, we give you that great, wide Open Stream. We’ve added new music from Bobbie Gentry, Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule, Koko Taylor, Tracy Nelson, Chuck Berry, and more! We’ve also got brand new playlists in the works to get us through the dog days of summer here. Just. Do. It.

Welcome to Saturday in The Mermaid Lounge With Our House Playlist EP, The Final Airing of Our AOW, and LIVE DEAD! Later, April 23, 2022

Good Morning, Musicologists and Audiophiles! It’s another Saturday. Thankfully. And we’ve got a great playlist here with a lot of shit to say about the state of the nation sprinkled in…from the last time we were this pissed off. Call it a musical history lesson.

Here’s your Saturday line-up:

11:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

Today we start the fun with our House EP, just over five hours of music with Barry McGuire, The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Peter Tosh, The Beatles, Genesis, T. Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Years After, The Plastic Ono Band, Billy Joel, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Richie Havens, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Nina Simone, and more!

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Common Sense by John Prine

We bid a fond farewell to this great Priney album today. There’s a reason why this guy is one of the most respected songwriters on the planet. Tomorrow when you roll out of bed, we’ll have a brand new selection for you! And we’re sure you’ll love it.

10:00 p.m. LIVE DEAD! The Grateful Dead Live at Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA, May 11, 1991 NEW!

The Dead at Shoreline again. We’ve aired a couple of others from this venue. This particular show was a benefit for the NAACP Legal Defense & Education Fund, and was at a time when a guy named Bruce Hornsby was on keys for the band. Enjoy.

Tune us in, people. I don’t know what else we can say to convince you. We have listeners from around the world and our U.S. listeners are definitely picking up. We have no money for advertising because we do not have any income from advertising. You’ll never hear that on this station. Get with the program, people.

We Close Out The Week With The #BecomeUngovernable House EP and Some True Confessions, Friday, October 29, 2021

Good Morning, Pettyologists! The month is coming to a close quickly and we’ve got just a couple of more things to squeeze in, one of them coming this evening. Read on!

We’ve got Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers on The True Confessions Tour later

Here’s your Friday line-up:

11:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

This is one of our favorites here. It started small and became an EP a little over a month ago. We’ve got some great music lined up over the afternoon hours coming from this excellent multi-artist long player.

7:00 p.m. Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at The Cal Expo Amphitheatre, Sacramento, CA, June 12, 1986

We’ve got a tour where Petty and his mates were not necessarily the headliners, but that didn’t seem to matter to either them or the audience. This is where the seeds were planted for a great musical match and where Mike Campbell said that the band truly learned how to improvise on stage. He credited Dylan with that lesson. This is one of those “don’t miss” moments.

Come on, folks. What the hell are you waiting for? Your friends from around the planet are out there right now listening to us and you need to find a way to join them. Hey, this isn’t rocket science. It’s Internet radio.

We’re at Midweek With Our Newly Expanded House Playlist and The Hollies In the Spotlight, Wednesday, September 29, 2021

Welcome to Midweek, Music Lovers! Last evening we worked on an expanded house playlist and we think you’re going to love it! Stick around and see for yourself!

Here’s your mid-week line-up:

11:00 a.m. #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists NEWLY EXPANDED!

We spent some time on our house playlist and it definitely has that peace, love, understanding, social justice and revolution vibe. We’ve got a bunch of great artists including The Beatles, Country Joe & The Fish, CSNY, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Cat Stevens, James Brown, Sam Cooke, The Band, Woody Guthrie, Donovan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lennon, Nina Simone, Peter, Paul & Mary, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Buffalo Springfield, Phil Ochs, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and many more! It is now officially one of our EP’s and another upgrade is in the wind for down the road.

7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Hollies

Undoubtedly one of the great British Invasion bands. We haven’t heard this one for a while, so it’s long overdue.

Before, in between and after we have wide Open Stream courtesy of The Music Mermaid. Sounds like a pretty good day to open those ears to something completely different in radio!
