Just months later he would be killed in a plane crash, only three days after recording “Sittin’ On The Dock Of The Bay.” It became the first posthumous No. 1 single in US chart history and sold over four million copies worldwide. We remember him today.

8:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Ellen McIlwaine

It’s funny how some people seem to fall through the cracks and never become the stars they should have been. A powerful singer and great slide guitarist, Ellen McIlwaine should have been widely accepted, in my opinion, yet she had more of a cult following than anything else. See for yourself tonight.

Perhaps the ‘fame’ others have experienced have eluded Rory Block, but the seven-time blues award winner has is the universal respect of the blues music community.

Sunday Brings Steely Dan’s “Pretzel Logic”, Our ‘Travelin’ Fever’ EP and More of Those Badass Guitarists, March 3, 2024

It’s Sunday Funday here in The Mermaid Lounge and we intro our new 50th birthday LP from Steely Dan, give you ‘Travelin’ Fever’ and volume two of Badass Guitarists.

Steely Dan’s third studio album was released on February 20, 1974 and became both a critical and commercial success.
