It has been a while since the release of the Wildflowers Project, and we’re going to start revisiting it intermittently today. We begin with All The Rest, or the songs that didn’t make the album. Of course, some of these songs appeared somewhere later down the road. However, some were not heard until this project was released, like Leave Virginia Alone and Confusion Wheel. We have those here today.

One of our favorites, Emmylou Harris, takes a turn with the Desert Rose Band, founded by ex-Byrd Chris Hillman. Other members include Herb Pederson, John Jorgenson, Bill Bryson, JayDee Maness, and Steve Duncan.

Ah yes, remember when instruments mattered in music? Now, according to Kanye West, Yeezy, Ye, Assclown of the Century, you can make all that shit sound with a computer and a program. Progress. Ain’t it great?

10:00 p.m. The Shadow: 08 Murder By The Dead NEW!

A convicted man sentenced to death vows retribution from the grave. A judge and a D.A. are murdered shortly after his execution. They better call The Shadow fast because the jury foreman is next unless someone figures this shit out.

Keeping with the Blues Week theme, this week’s Album of The Week is Albert King’s Born Under a Bad Sign, a compilation album released in 1967 on the Stax label. It was recorded from March 1966 to June 1967. King played with two house bands for this album, Booker T. & The MGs and the Memphis Horns.

4:00 p.m. Eric Clapton & Guests: The Crossroads Guitar Festival Revisited

We have nearly four hours of music here from Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festivals, a series of benefit concerts to raise money for the Crossroads Centre, a drug rehabilitation center in Antigua.

Susan Tedeschi, Gary Clark, Jr., The Robert Cray Band, Joe Walsh, B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, Jeff Beck, and Carlos Santana are just some of the musicians taking part.

The Yardbirds are a British blues-rock band formed in London in May of 1963. The original lineup featured vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf, drummer Jim McCarty, rhythm guitarist/bassist Chris Dreja and bassist/producer Paul Samwell-Smith. Throughout the years, other band members have come and gone.

During the BBC Sessions featured in this playlist, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page circulated in and out of the band.

4:00 p.m. Album of the Week: On The Border by The Eagles

This was The Eagles third studio album, and they added Don Felder to go for a more rock feel than the first two albums.

6:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: Booker T. & The M.G.’s

Booker T. & The M.G.’s were a musical force in the sixties. Formed in Memphis in 1962, the band was influential in shaping the unique sound of Southern soul and Memphis soul. The original band members were Booker T. Jones (organ, piano), Steve Cropper (guitar), Lewie Steinberg (bass), and Al Jackson Jr. (drums). As the de facto house band for Stax Records, they also played for artists like Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Albert King, Wilson Pickett, and Delaney & Bonnie.
