It’s Tuesday Bluesday With Some Texas Blues, a Janis Joplin Surprise, and Live Stevie Ray Vaughan, September 23, 2025

Good morning, bluesologists. It’s another Tuesday Bluesday and I’m on the run due to an unresponsive computer for about 20 minutes. Stubborn little thing. We’ve got a great lineup today, so read on for details!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Texas Blues: Various Artists

One of our newer blues EP’s featuring Johnny Winter, Kim Wilson, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Doyle Bramhall II, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Marcia Ball, Gary Clark Jr., Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Janis Joplin, Freddie King, Angela Strehli, Big Mama Thornton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Blind Lemon Jefferson, ZZ Top, Ally Venable, and more!

A little unknown tidbit is that Janis Joplin and Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, later the great blues-rock band Hot Tuna) often collaborated. This is a short, but sweet, interlude recorded at Jorma’s house. The sound in the background is Jorma’s wife typing. Hence, the name. This is vintage 1964!

8:00 p.m. Stevie Ray Vaughan Live at The Mann Music Center, Philadelphia, PA, June 30, 1987

We close with SRV live at the Mann Center in Philly.

Our programming is Texas blues all the way around today. Before, In between, and after it’s our big, wide Open Stream! Just hit the button below!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Texas Blues: Various Artists

We’re headed to the Lone Star State today to hear Johnny Winter, T. Bone Walker, Kim Wilson, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Doyle Bramhall II, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Gary Clark Jr., Marcia Ball, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Janis Joplin, Freddie King, Angela Strehli, Big Mama Thornton, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ally Venable, and more!

We’re into some British blues-rock this afternoon with the great Savoy Brown live at Chicago’s HOB.

8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Ellen McIlwaine

Tuesday Bluesday Brings ‘The Best of Texas Blues’, Gunsmoke Blues, and a Peter Green ‘Spotlight’ (Finally), April 29, 2025

Good morning, bluesologists! We’ve got some great blues programming today. Our 4:00 p.m. slot has an interesting story. Read on for details!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Best of Texas Blues: Various Artists

We open it up with one of our great blues EPs featuring Johnny Winter, Bobby “Blue” Bland, T-Bone Walker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Marcia Ball, The King Bees, Freddie King, Janis Joplin, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Doyle Bramhall II, Ally Venable, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Big Mama Thornton, Albert Collins, ZZ Top, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and more!

This is the stuff of legends. While on a filming break from the Gunsmoke TV series in November of 1971, blues lover Link Wyler and some of his friends from the production crew took to the road and documented the blues barnstorming tour of the Pacific Northwest underaken by Big Mama Thornton, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner and George “Harmonica” Smith. This is the result.

This one has been coming for a while. We give you the music of the late, great Peter Green as a solo artist, as the co-founder of Fleetwood Mac (originally a blues band before Nicks and Buckingham joined), and Peter Green’s Splinter Group.

Before, in between and after we give you our big, wide Open Stream of more than 30,000 songs. We don’t keep playing the same hundred songs over and over ad nauseum. We also don’t cost you a thing, play commercial advertising or talk through the music. We’re anti-capitalist to the core. Join us. The button’s below.
