Here’s your Saturday lineup:

Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Years After, Plastic Ono Band, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, The Band and more!

We close out the day with a Spotlight feature with Joan Baez, a musical legend whose career has spanned six decades.

On Thursday It’s ‘The Female Species’ EP, a Kris Kristofferson Tribute and Another Trip to Love Street, on October 3, 2024

Good morning, music lovers and we are now officially on the downslide to the weekend. We’ve got a tribute to the late, great Kris Kristofferson sandwiched in between a couple of great multi-artist playlists!

Here’s your musical mojo:

9:00 a.m. The Female Species: Various Artists

This one is songs about women, not necessarily by women (although some most definitely are). You’ll hear Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Talking Heads, Jackson Browne, John Mayall, Hot Tuna, The Eagles, Elvis Presley, Electric Light Orchestra, Fleetwood Mac, Percy Sledge, The Beatles, Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, America, Roy Orbison, Billy Joel, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, The Temptations and more!

This afternoon we honor Kris Kristofferson’s musical legacy with a concert at Philharmonic Hall. He even brings along a few friends, like Willie Nelson, Rita Coolidge and Larry Gatlin.

We’ve got Volume Two this evening, with Dave Mason, Grin, Gene Clark, Jimmy Webb, Rick Nelson, David Crosby, Tim Buckley, Frank Zappa, Steppenwolf, Glen Campbell, Hoyt Axton, The Turtles, Stephen Stills, Poco and more!

We’re on the case 24/7 with no commercial interruptions and no overly-chatty DJ’s who like to cut off the openings and closings of songs. We promise. And we also promise that there’s no charge for your time in The Mermaid Lounge. The button is below.

At Midweek We Give You Our House EP, a J.J. Cale Spotlight Feature and The First Volume of Our New Love Street Playlist, Wednesday October 2, 2024

Good morning, music lovers and welcome to The Mermaid Lounge. We’ve got some great music today, including volume one of our new ‘I See You Live on Love Street’ playlist.

Here’s your midweek musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

Yes, we start it all off with five hours of the music that inspired us to start this little experiment to begin with from The Beatles, Barry McGuire, The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Peter Tosh, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, CSNY, Joan Baez, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Plastic Ono Band, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and more!

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of J. J. Cale

The man who invented the Oklahoma sound gave us a body of work that many have recorded over and over, yet fame eluded him. I’m not sure J.J. Cale ever needed fame, though. He was content with having the respect of his peers.

This is a new playlist for us and, while it does include many of the artists of our big EP, these are different songs from those artists and it also includes a bunch of artists that I bet you never knew passed through the Laurel Canyon music scene. Artists include The Monkees, The Association, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Stone Poneys, The Doors, Scott McKenzie, The Byrds, Captain Beefheart and more! Volumes Two and Three will happen over Thursday and Friday.

We’re on 24/7 and we’re totally free all day every day. We’re not interested in tracking anyone because we’re not selling anything. And we don’t need no stinking credit cards. The button is below.

Spend Your Day With a Carly Simon Spotlight, The Trio Sessions, and The Doors Live on Friday, September 27, 2024

Good morning, music lovers! We are one day from the official weekend and we’ve got a Carly Simon Spotlight feature and live Doors wrapped around Ronstadt-Parton-Harris’s Trio Sessions.

Here’s your Friday lineup:

9:00 a.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Carly Simon

This incredible singer-songwriter rose to fame during the seventies with her string of 13 Top 40 hits, including You’re So Vain (which is not about Jagger, but about Warren Beatty, apparently), Anticipation, The Right Thing To Do, and Haven’t Got Time For The Pain. Today we put her In The Spotlight to start things off.

12:00 p.m. Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris: The Trio Sessions

Nobody calls this alignment a “supergroup” for some reason, but it surely is and we always do. All three of these brilliant women had already embarked on incredibly successful solo careers before they got together for two of the best albums ever made. Today, we have the Trio Sessions that includes outtakes and alternative versions, among other things. Enjoy.

6:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation: Volume Two

We take you through the evening with volume two of our Sixties Rotation, focusing on the mid-to-late part of the decade with The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Wilson Pickett, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Joni Mitchell, The Yardbirds, Linda Ronstadt, Roy Orbison, B. B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, The Doors, The Box Tops, The Kinks, Creedence Clearwater Revival and more!

We’re here 24/7 with absolutely no commercial interruption. We’re also totally free with no hidden charges, no passwords, no credit cards required. The button is below. See for yourself. Go ahead. You know you want to.

On Wednesday It’s ‘The Founders’ EP, Live Jimi Hendrix and Volume Three of The ‘All-Girl Revue’, September 18, 2024

Good morning, music lovers! Today we give respect to the founders of rock and roll, those who inspired the first generation of classic rock. Did I complicate that enough?

Here’s your midweek lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Founders: Various Artists

Okay, I’ve already over complicated this thing. You’ll hear Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner, Hank Williams, Bill Haley & The Comets, Ray Charles, The Drifters, Roy Orbison, Robert Johnson, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters and more!

We give you a bit of new-to-the-station live Hendrix this afternoon, this one from the Forum.

8:00 p.m. The All-Girl Revue, Volume Three: Various Artists

We chill out with the ladies this evening, including Linda Ronstadt, Phoebe Snow, Carole King, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Melanie, Dolly Parton, Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Valerie Carter, Wendy Waldman, Susan Tedeschi, Aretha Franklin and more!

I’m headed out for truck day, but you’ll be hanging out with The Music Mermaid for the day. We’re on 24/7, so I’ll be here a bit later. Until then, enjoy the musical ride. It’s totally free. The button is below.

We lost one of the greatest singer-songwriters in music on September 7, 2003. Warren Zevon was not only a great performer in his own right, but he was a man whose music was recorded by many other artists. Today we pay him tribute by putting him In The Spotlight.

Today we feature our first live performance by singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile. She appears in concert here with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

5:00 p.m. Under The Influence: Various Artists

We take a trip through the evening with five hours of music that is about being under the influence of various stimulants, some legal and some not. You’ll hear Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Byrds, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, Little Feat, The Rolling Stones, Small Faces, Jimi Hendrix, Steely Dan, New Riders of The Purple Sage, Talking Heads, Neil Young, The Beatles, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Foreigner, Jonathan Edwards, John Lee Hooker, Donovan and more!

It’s a day of rest, and the weather is beautiful here in the Boston area. The sun is shining and it’s actually just a bit chilly this morning. A great day to kick back and listen to some great music! The button is below.
