Today we put her In The Spotlight to start things off.

Nobody calls this alignment a “supergroup” for some reason, but it surely is and we always do. All three of these brilliant women had already embarked on incredibly successful solo careers before they got together for two of the best albums ever made. Today, we have the Trio Sessions that includes outtakes and alternative versions, among other things. Enjoy.

In fact, they heard it in Britain and it immediately took hold. You’ll hear The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Buffalo Springfield, The Beach Boys, The Doors, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, J.D. Speaking of the Laurel Canyon generation and those who pioneered country-rock, we sadly lost J.D. Souther on September 17, just about a week before he was scheduled to hit the road with Karla Bonoff. Souther was a songwriting legend, whose songs were tickets to fame for The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt, among others. Today, we put him In the Spotlight where he belongs.

Undoubtedly one of the best bands to come out of the seventies. This was a stop on their very ambitious Art Crimes Tour, and many consider this performance one of their best-ever shows. Give it a listen.

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Beach Boys

We haven’t cued this one up in a while. Is there a better band that signifies the sounds of summer? We don’t think so. And then, there’s the genius of Brian Wilson.

8:00 p.m. The All-Girl Revue: Various Artists

We had a handful of these shorter shows from the ladies and, eventually, we rolled them into ‘Ladies Day Out’ and added even more! These come in handy when we need a fix.
