It’s a Jerry Garcia Kind of Day Here in The Mermaid Lounge With Two Great Bits of Programming, Wednesday, August 11, 2021

Good Morning, fellow Deadheads! This week in 1995 we lost Jerry Garcia, the heart and soul of The Grateful Dead (no matter what anyone tells you, the Dead ain’t the Dead without Jerry). Today we have just two piece of programming, both dedicated to Jerry Garcia.

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Very Best of The Grateful Dead NEW!

We take a bit of a different approach today. Every Saturday night now since the beginning of this station, we have aired a show called Live Dead. (If you haven’t yet tuned into this, it’s every Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. EST.) Today, we are presenting a Spotlight of studio songs that are the very best of the Dead, just under three hours of uninterrupted music.

7:00 p.m. The Jerry Garcia Band Live at The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, MA, December 2, 1977

I have a particular fondness for this show since I was in attendance. We’ve aired this before, but it was quite a while ago. I thought it would be appropriate to break it out again in honor of Jerry.

In between all this great music is our wide Open Stream, with music chosen by The Music Mermaid who, by the way, has impeccable taste. Tune us in and you’ll see for yourself…all at absolutely no charge ever.
