On Friday It’s Our ‘Train Tracks’ Playlist, Dion Live at The Bitter End, and an ELO ‘Spotlight’ Feature, September 5, 2025

Good morning, music lovers! We’ve got a great set of programs to close out the work week, and we begin with songs about trains!

Here’s your Finally Friday lineup:

10:00 a.m. Train Tracks: Various Artists

We start with songs about trains from Steve Winwood, Joni Mitchell, Guy Clark, Linda Ronstadt, The Clash, Pete Seeger, Laura Nyro, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The Boogaloo Swamis, J.J. Cale, Elvis Presley, Mother Earth, Allen Toussaint, The Eagles, Lucinda Williams, and more!

Many of you know him merely as Dion of Runaround Sue fame, but Dion DiMucci is so much more than that. He has spent decades honing his craft and reinventing himself masterfully. This is just Dion and his guitar in a fantastic performance at The Bitter End.

8:00 p.m. Jeff Lynne’s ELO: In The Spotlight

Or we can simply call them Electric Light Orchestra, whichever you prefer. Either way, we close out the day’s programming with this great band ‘In the Spotlight.’

We’re here 24/7 playing the best music on the planet for free. Totally. No strings. No bullshit. Just hit the button below.

Saturday We’ve Got Songs About Trains, Music From ‘The Queens’, and Marvin Gaye at Montreux, March 8, 2025

Welcome, weekenders! Today we begin celebrating International Women’s Month in earnest. We’re most definitely a DEI radio station. If you don’t celebrate the differences in the human race, like women or believe we’re all in this together, then this is not your venue!

Here’s your Saturday lineup:

10:00 a.m. Train Tracks: Various Artists

Today we start out with songs about trains and train travel, a very popular topic. You’ll hear from Steve Winwood, Guy Clark, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Rosanne Cash, Electric Light Orchestra, J. J. Cale, Chicken Shack, Nanci Griffith, Taj Mahal, Paul Butterfield, The Eagles, Paul Simon, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, Mother Earth, Kim Weston, Little Feat and more!

4:00 p.m. Long Live The Queens: Various Artists

We’ve got Aretha Franklin (The Queen of Soul), Koko Taylor (The Queen of The Blues), Irma Thomas (The Soul Queen of New Orleans) and Linda Ronstadt (The Queen of Rock) this afternoon. We give the ladies plenty of shine all the time, but this is International Women’s Month and we’re giving them some extra.

8:00 p.m. Marvin Gaye Live at The Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux Casino, Montreux, Switzerland, July 17, 1980

We close out the day’s programming with the Prince of Soul this evening, live from the Montreux Jazz Festival.

It’s Friday With ‘Live’ Steely Dan, ‘Everybody But Bob’ and Our ‘Train Tracks’ Multi-Artist Playlist, March 22, 2024

Good morning and welcome to the end of the work week! We’ve got some early ‘live’ Steely Dan and two outstanding multi-artist playlists for you today.

Here’s your Friday playlists:

This live in-studio concert was part of a promotion run by ABC Dunhill Records around the release of Countdown To Ecstasy and the hits that were spawned by that album. It was broadcast live over now-defunct (sadly) rock station KMET.

3:00 p.m. Everybody But Bob: Bob Dylan Cover Songs

It should come as no surprise that the man who won a Nobel Prize for Literature for his songwriting would boast an impressive lists of artists who have covered his songs. You’ll hear Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, George Harrison, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Baez, Chrissie Hynde, Tracy Nelson, The Band, Johnny Winter, Shawn Colvin, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Fairport Convention, The Byrds, Hot Tuna and more.

8:00 p.m. Train Tracks: Various Artists

We close out the programming with a playlist of songs about trains, runaway and otherwise, with Steve Winwood, the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, New Riders of The Purple Sage, the Doobie Brothers, J.J. Cale, Chicken Shack, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Rosanne Cash, Allen Toussaint, The Eagles, Paul Simon, The Guess Who, Lucinda Williams, Guy Clark, Joni Mitchell and more!

Here’s your musical landscape:

11:00 a.m. Train Tracks: Various Artists NEW!

Today we debut a great playlist about trains and, believe me, they come from all genres. Trains are a popular topic for musical artists like Joni Mitchell, Guy Clark. Linda Ronstadt, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Seve Winwood, Rod Stewart, Pete Seeger, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Laura Nyro, Professor Longhair, J.J. Cale, Chicken Shack, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, the Boogaloo Swamis, Wendy Waldman, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Lucinda Williams, The Guess Who, Paul Simon, Rosanne Cash, Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder and more!

4:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Dolly Parton FINAL AIRING!

We hate to see her go, but Dolly Parton’s taking her final stage call as this week’s featured singer-songwriter. But don’t despair! Tomorrow we debut a great new artist as you will see.

8:00 p.m. Tom Petty & Mike Campbell: The Dynamic Duo

Speaking of songwriters, Tom Petty is right at the top of the list (his day will be coming), and he has had help from Mike Camp, his sidekick for many years, on many Heartbreaker songs. We debuted this playlist over three years ago and it never gets old. Tonight we air it to close out our programming.

We’ve made it to the end of the week and it’s Cinco de Mayo. For many it’ll be party time after hours. But for those who choose to party at home, we’re on 24/7 at no charge to you at any time. And better still, we do not accept commercial advertising, so there’s nothing to clog up the airwaves.
