It’s Mudcrutch Monday in The Mermaid Lounge, and Later We Have Badfinger Live at the BBC, March 22, 2021

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We’ve designated today as Mudcrutch Monday here in The Mermaid Lounge, and that can only mean good things.

Mudcrutch plays live at The Troubadour!

Here’s today’s line-up:

12:00 p.m. Mudcrutch Monday Madness!

Yes, it’s the full magilla. We’ve got the entire Mudcrutch catalogue for you today. That’s just over two hours of uninterrupted music from the original band that left Gainesville with Tom Petty and morphed into The Heartbreakers. When Tom Petty reformed the orignal band in 2008, it became a band to be reckoned with in its own right. Enjoy this interlude.

7:00 p.m. Badfinger Live at The BBC (1972-1973)

Undoubtedly one of the most underrated bands in popular music history, and the only bona fide hit band the Beatles ever signed to Apple Records (aside from themselves, of course). The story of Badfinger is a sad one to be sure. Scammed by their manager (not the Beatles, by the way) and left penniless, two of its members committed suicide. But while they were making music, they were an amazing power pop band and they left a great catalogue of music.

All of our European and Asian friends are tuned in. Where the hell are you music lovers in the United States? Still listening to commercial-laden radio that plays the same shit over and over? Perhaps you’re paying a monthly subscription fee to listen to the music you want. You have no idea what you are missing.
