As you know, it is Tom Petty Month in these here parts and we’ve chosen one of Petty’s solo albums (but not really; you’ll see what I mean) as our Album of The Week. This is one we’ve not had yet since we started this feature. From there, it’s a Little Bit O’ Soul.

Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty NEW!
Full Moon Fever was Tom Petty’s very first solo effort, released April 24, 1989 on MCA. It was produced by Petty, Mike Campbell, and Jeff Lynne. In addition to Lynne, other members of the Wilburys also contributed, including George Harrison and Roy Orbison. It was recorded in Campbell’s garage studio, and was actually interrupted mid-stream for the recording of the Traveling Wilbury’s first album.
Full Moon Fever was both a critical and commercial success. Five singles were released: I Won’t Back Down, Runnin’ Down A Dream, Free Fallin’, A Face In The Crowd, and Yer So Bad. It peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 8 in the UK. It was certified 5x platinum in the U.S. on October 5, 2000 and 6x platinum in Canada on September 18, 1991 in Canada. In 2019, the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
