Today we bit a fond farewell to the only solo album ever released during Janis Joplin’s short lifetime. For this album, she brought on the Kozmic Blues Band as she moved from psychedelic music into a more blues-driven sound, and would go on tour with them later. Tomorrow, we’ll have a brand new album for you.

We feature Nanci Griffith as this week’s singer-songwriter whose musical style encompassed folk and country, and what she called “folkabilly.” She was a frequent performer on Austin City Limits and, although she suffered from severe writer’s block from 2004 through 2009, she remains one of the most respected singer-songwriters in popular music. She often recorded duets with others, including Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Don McLean, Jimmy Buffett, and Willie Nelson. You can read more about Nanci Griffith here.
