This is a club tour that was recorded by a Dutch fan, later cleaned up, and released.

We’ve been working on this list and it’s finally here. The Stones started out as a blues cover band. This is not an insult, every band who starts out generally covers those who came before them before finding their own style and original content, including The Beatles and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.The Stones have a long history of singing the blues, as you will see!

I’ve been to New Orleans many times in my life, and there are two things that make the trip worthwhile: The food and the music. You’ll hear Ray Charles, Lillian Glinn, Slim Harpo, Roy Brown, Fats Domino, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Rodney Harris, Roosevelt Sykes, Shirley & Lee, Papa Lightfoot, Guitar Slim, Annie Laurie, Fats Matthews, Big Joe Turner, Big Boy Myles, Little Walter, Mary Butler, Erline Harris, Marcia Ball, Dave Bartholomew, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Neville Brothers, Irma Thomas and more!

This ‘find’ are the unreleased recordings for the band’s 1964 debut album. Nobody can say why they were shelved. The playlist includes early versions of some of their classic songs, and some songs that only a few people heard prior to this release. These songs were recorded prior to keyboardist Mark Naftalin joined the group. Enjoy.

A little unknown tidbit is that Janis Joplin and Jorma Kaukonen (Jefferson Airplane, later the great blues-rock band Hot Tuna) often collaborated. This is a short, but sweet, interlude recorded at Jorma’s house. The sound in the background is Jorma’s wife typing. Hence, the name. This is vintage 1964!
