Programming for Wednesday, August 7, 2019

Good Evening, Ungovernables! Since I’m up and out very early tomorrow morning, let me give you the lay of the land on tomorrow’s scheduled programming!

The Allman Brothers Band in 1969

10:00 a.m.   That Sweet Soul Sound

The music of Aretha, the Four Tops, the Temptations, and Sly & The Family Stone. And that’s just for starters!

1:00 p.m.     Alison Weir: The Global Campaign to Stifle Criticism of Israel

There is indeed a global campaign afoot, and it’s absurd that we the people are being told we cannot criticize the terrorist state of Israel. All governments are subject to criticism.

4:00 p.m.    The Allman Brothers Band: Play All Night, Live at The Beacon Theater

The legendary granddaddy of Southern fried rock tearing it up at The Beacon Theater in New York.

7:30 p.m.    Norman Finkelstein: Time to Boycott Israel?

Programming for Saturday, August 3, 2019

Happy Saturday, Ungovernables! And so the weekend begins (unless you’re in retail, like I am where the shopping never stops). Here is your programming for today!

Bobby

10:00 a.m.   The All-Girl Revue: Various Artists

One of the big goals of this station is to elevate the pioneer women of rock. People like Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Laura Nyro, and others whose playtime on rock radio over the years has been stifled by focus on the men. It’s as simple as that. Linda Ronstadt achieved the popularity of a Mick Jagger as a female in music at a time when music was very anti-female, and finally — five decades later — her story will be told. She is but one of the featured artists on this great playlist.

By the way, Volume 2 of this playlist will debut next week.

1:00 p.m.    Robert F. Kennedy’s ’68 Election Townhall Speech

I adore nobody. I fully respect several, however, and this man is one of them. Would we have had a different nation? In my heart of hearts, I believe yes. Perfect? Utopia? I hate to tell you this, but that does not exist anywhere. But I will tell you something else as well. Had John and Bobby Kennedy lived out their normal lives, we would not be here. We would not be in utopia. We would have our problems and issues. But we would not be here. And I also believe this was not coincidence.

4:00 p.m.    Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at the Olympic (The Last DJ Tour)

I say it all the time: It does not get any better on the road than this. If you haven’t experienced this band live, you haven’t experienced this band. This is, without a doubt, one of the tightest bands ever in the history of music. We’ve got a ton of stuff like this and, apparently, Mr. Petty left behind enough unfinished business to keep us going for a very long time.

7:00 p.m.   Lies, Half-Truths, and Omissions: Revisionist American History, Ep. 1

Deb Della Piana takes on the ghost of Christopher Columbus, not one of the good guys no matter what they want you to believe. This will be the final airing of this episode before the first airing of Episode 2.

Why #BecomeUngovernable Radio?

bu-radio-post-card-6-x-4-in-back

Truth be told, I contracted for this radio station just over two years ago. Somewhere in the back of my mind I had this dreaded feeling that we would all be shut down on social media someday. These slugs had already been compromised by greed and their obligation to cooperate with a government that continues to silence dissent and popular opinion. The shit on Facebook is just the beginning. They are now emboldened by their arrest of Julian Assange. They are in conrol. The judiciary in this nation is a slime pit of corruption and political end-games. Assange will never receive a fair trial here.  But I digress, and I do not wish to.

In short, whatever #BecomeUngovernable is doing on social media or elsewhere, we are replicating on this station. This will take a period of time. I can tell you this could easily be a full-time job. This is a disclaimer: You will find imperfections as we move forward. We simply do not have “perfection” as an option. If you follow this blog, which you can do in the sidebar with the click of a button, you will be kept up to date.

We have some excellent original programming coming up. You can check that out in Podcasts. In addition to the original programming already listed, we are talking to a few other people about developing podcasts for this station. We are also running lectures and information from the public domain that is essential to understanding why we must do something outside the realm of electoral politics to save ourselves. All of the planned programming is also posted on the blog early each morning.

I will not lie. This radio station pretty much reflects my personal taste in music. As far back as grammar school, my friends and I would hang out on our streets with the transistor radio tuned to WMEX in Boston. In those days, it was AM Radio that was king and playing all the best stuff. I can remember when WMEX scored legendary DJ Cousin Duffy from out on the Left Coast. Those beginnings are partly what this is about.

The other part is that these artists led a revolution in music. Their music was also in the forefront during the sixties. That’s why this station is what it is. There are exceptions, of course, like The Foo Fighters, REM, Soundgarden, and others. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers can also be considered an exception. Yet, they don’t feel that way because they have — more than any other post-sixties band — embodied what that music was all about. We have a few more being added still, but the focus will be on what you currently hear.

You don’t have to get an account, join, or fill out any personal information to join us on #BecomeUngovernable Radio. All you need to do is tune in. Nobody says you can’t be entertained, informed and awakened at the same time.

Programming for Saturday, July 27, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Here is your special programming for today. In between all this is some of the greatest music of all time. Tune in!

Jimmy-Hendrix-Monterey-Pop-festival-bb13-fea-1500

10:00 a.m.   The Monterey International Pop Festival

Woodstock’s anniversary is coming up, but the Monterey International Pop Festival already cenetrated it’s 50th back in 2017. In the photo we have two attendees who left us way too soon, Brian Jones of the Stones and Jimi Hendrix.

1:00 p.m.    William Blum on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)

William Blum, who passed in 2018, was and is an important voice in this movement. He left the employ of the state department in 1967, and spent his life taking on Empire. Here he blows the whistle on the CIA.

4:00 p.m.    Petty Theft: The Covers

The same qualities that make Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers the greatest American rock n’ roll band of all time make them the greatest cover band of all time. This is, without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite playlists. Sit back and enjoy the Heartbreakers as they pay homage to those who have inspired them over the years.

7:00 p.m.    Chris Hedges: The Wages of Rebellion

Chris Hedges gets some airtime from us once again so he can tell you the moral imperative of rising up.

Programming for Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Good morning, Ungovernables! Working the early shift, so I wanted to get this posted. We are up and running every day at 6 a.m.

Neil Young Performs Live At Wembley Stadium
LONDON – SEPTEMBER 14: Neil Young from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young performs live on stage at Wembley Stadium on September 14 1974 (Photo by Gijsbert Hanekroot/Redferns)

10:00 a.m.   In the Spotlight: The Music of Neil Young

One of a rare breed, like Tom Petty, who has remained true to himself through a long, winding, and glorious career. A prolific singer/songwriter.

1:00 p.m.    Alison Weir: The Global Campaign to Stifle Criticism of Israel

Alison Weir, founder of the If Americans Knew Blog, breaks down this insidious global effort to stifle free speech and criticism of the state of Israel.

4:00 p.m.    Mudcrutch Madness

If you don’t know the band Tom Petty left Gainesville with back in the day, you might want to get to know them. Bringing them back together in 2009 was one of the best ideas Tom Petty ever had.

7:00 p.m.    Chris Hedges: A Radical Green Party Strategy

Although somewhat dated, this is a valuable look back. What if the Greens had adopted this strategy instead of pursuing the path they did? It’s a pretty safe bet that they are not in a position to win any time soon on the national stage. Perhaps if they’d listented, things might be different for all of us today.

Programming for Sunday, July 21, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! How are we on this fine morning? Here is your playlist for today. Giving it a break today: More music, less chatter. Hey, it’s Sunday! and it’s a Dylan kind of day.

Tom-Petty-Bob-Dylan-GettyImages-111588161-920x584

10:00 a.m.  Dylan and The Dead

Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead collaborate on some Dylan tunes both on vinyl and on the road. The team took to the road in 1987, and the album was released on February 6, 1986 by Columbia Records.

1:00 p.m.   Across the Borderline: Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Bob Dylan and Tom Petty & The Hearbreakers decided to team up after Dylan complained that they never got anybody “cool” to open with. The rest is musical history, as two of the world’s greatest songwriters also became the best of friends, winding up in The Traveling Wilburys together (their playlist makes its debut on this station next week).

Across the Borderline is a record of Dylan and Petty live in Sydney Australia. There’s a great interview at the beginning of the playlist talking about how this collaboration all came about. It’s fascinating!

4:00 p.m.   Martin Luther King: Why I Oppose the Viet Nam War

The mainstreamers always invokes “I Have a Dream” when someone asks about Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches, but this is one of King’s most inspirational speeches ever. If ever we need some kind of anti-war voice, it’s now.

Programming Note: We will be taking down the servers at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening for a major upgrade and the addition of new music.

Programming for Friday, July 19, 2019

US-investment-in-5G

Good Morning, Ungovernables! TGIF and all that stuff, right? Unless you’re in retail, like I am. No matter. We’ve got a great lineup for you today here!

11:00 a.m.     In the Spotlight: The Music of Steely Dan

These guys made some of the most innovative music on the planet in that sleek jazz-rock style. A great band.

2:00 p.m.        Dr. Martin Pall on the Health Dangers of 5G

Dr. Martin Pall of the Biochemistry Department at Washington State University discusses the health dangers of the looming 5G techology.  We think this is a very dangerous technology and encourage you to also look here.

5:00 p.m.       Petty Theft: The Covers

No  matter where they played, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers paid homage to those who inspired them and had an effect on their success. Here, the Heartbreakers do their mentors proud covering Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead and Bo Diddly. One of my favorite playlists EVAH.

8:00 p.m.       Chris Hedges: Fascism in the Age of Trump

There are no solutions on eiher side, unfortunately. Many think Donald Trump was sent to “drain the swamp.” The exact opposite is true, despite those who remain delusional. Donald Trump is a product of a very sick system, much like his 2016 challenger, The Hillarious One. But make no mistake about it. Our present march to fascism, and it is happening, is being led by The Orange Scourge.

Remember, to check out the Playlist tab for content!

Note: We will again be uploading a bunch of new material over the weekend, and it will require shutting the server down. Time is TBD, but we will be sure it is later in the evening.

Whoa, we have a late addition to today’s programming!

alison Weir

9:00 p.m.     Alison Weir on The Global Campaign to Criminalize Criticism of Israel

Tune in for a recent talk by Alison Weir on this issue. This is a critical facet of the march toward stifling dissent here in Empire.

Tune in tonight on #BecomeUngovernable Radio!

7:00 p.m.      The New Enslavement of the American Working Class

Like Chris Hedges and George Galloway, we expect Dr. Paul Craig Roberts to be a fixture on this station. He is an important voice in our movement, and this is a great jumping off point.
