Programming for Friday, August, 2, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! TGIF, baby! We’ve got a great day ahead that includes two brand new playlists for your listening pleasure. Both are “don’t miss” events!

tom with the Shelters

10:00 a.m.   Badass Guitarists, Volume 1: Various Artists

This playlist could have gone on forever. Instead, we’ll break it down into small bites. It lasts longer that way. From Mike Campbell of The Heartbreakers (The guitar solo at the end of Runnin’ Down a Dream has a life of its own and is untouchable) to Slowhand, to Jimmy Page, this is the best of the best here.

1:00 p.m.    Lies, Half-Truths, and Omissions: Revisionist American History, Ep. 1

This is a repeat performance of the very first episode from last Sunday before we release Episode 2. This will repeat one more time tomorrow as well. This episode is entitled Christopher Columbus Was Not a Hero. Learn about the man heralded as one who found the new world but who, in reality, unleashed a nighmare on the peaceful Native Americans already living here.

4:00 p.m.    In the Spotlight: The Music of The Shelters

We don’t often spotlight new music, but we are today. Tom Petty had a ton of musical projects in the fire, one of which was mentoring a young band named The Shelters. In fact, he produced their first record in 2016, which was recorded at The Clubhouse, where Petty and The Heartbreakers recorded. Give a listen to the Shelters. They’ll also be added to the Standard Rotation.

7:00 p.m.   The Secret World of U.S. Elections

Back before Julian Assange was vilified by a clueless American public following the lead of the fraudulent mainstream media, he gave us some insights into the reality of our elections. Trust me when I tell you it has not improved. In fact, like everything else when left unattended, it has gotten worse.

Programming for July 14, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’re up and running and here’s your special programming list for Sunday, July 14!

wiki

10:00 a.m.     Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton, Live From Madison Square Garden, New York, February 2008

Two legendary musicians combine talents and song lists from two very illustrious careers.

1:00 p.m.       In the Spotlight: The Music of the Traveling Wilburys

Once upon a time, five of the most talented musicians on the planet decided to get together just to have some fun. The rest is musical history. There has never been a supergroup like this one: Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison, joined by legendary drummer Jim Keltner.

4:00 p.m.      The Secret World of U.S. Elections

Journalist John Pilger spends some time talking to Julian Assange of WikiLeaks about the state of our nation’s election cycle. With November 2020 looming on the horizon, this is a timely interview.

7:00 p.m.      The New Enslavement of the American Working Class

Like Chris Hedges and George Galloway, we expect Dr. Paul Craig Roberts to be a fixture on this station. He is an important voice in our movement, and this is a great jumping off point.

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Today is the 12th anniversary of the actual Collateral Murder event. In honor of our two political prisoners, we will be dedicating all of our “talk” programming today to interviews about or with Julian Assange.

Here’s our special programming for today:

10:00 a.m.    Mudcrutch Madness

For those of you who do not know who or what Mudcrutch is, this is the band that Tom Petty left Gainesville, Florida with on his quest to make the best fucking music on the planet. Mudcrutch didn’t have much success out there…until it morphed into Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Petty brought Mudcrutch back together in 2009, and the result was quite different.

1:00 p.m.     Chris Hedges Interviews Kristinn Hrafnsson, Editor-in-Chief of WikiLeaks

The politically-motivated imprisonment of Julian Assange and continued persecution of Chelsea Manning are issues of prime importance to us. This is an excellent and timely interview.

4:00 p.m.     The All-Girl Revue

From Linda Ronstadt, to Patti Smith, to Aretha Franklin. It’s an all-girl party! We also throw in some Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Irma Thomas. Hey, but who’s name dropping?

7:00 p.m.     Crucifying Julian Assange

Chris Hedges and John Pilger on Assanges’ political imprisonment and what he faces down the road.
