The Wailers were initially formed when self-taught musician Hubert Winston McIntosh (Peter Tosh) met the singers Neville Livingston (Bunny Wailer), and Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) in 1963. The Beacon Theater show in 1976 was part of the Rastaman Vibration Tour.

We are back on Europe ’72 for a bit. This gig at The Beat Club is famous for being the shortest show on the tour. That’s because it was recorded for television airing.

Today’s treat gives us yet another great solo effort by Tom Petty. Full Moon Fever was released 31 years ago Friday, on April 24, 1989. Petty was joined on the album not only by his Heartbreaker bandmates, but also by his Wilbury bandmates. The album was produced by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Mike Campbell. Most of the compositions were by Petty and Lynne. The album was an immediate critical and commercial success, peaking at number 3 on the Billboard charts. It was certified 5X platinum in the U.S. and 6X platinum in Canada.

The Beatles final public performance happened on January 30, 1969 with an unannounced concert from the rooftop of Apple Corporation headquarters at 3 Saville Row. Their fans were ecstatic with the lunchtime entertainment. The British Bobbies? Not so much.

10:00 p.m.  Live Dead: The Grateful Dead Live at Watkins Glen, New York (7-28-73)

We’re taking a break from Europe ’72 this week and airing a concert from Watkins Glen, New York. No two Dead performances are ever the same. They are the ultimate jam band. 

Tune us in. It’s Easter weekend. The bunny’s efforts are scaled back this year. We’ll blunt the trauma with some great music.
