Good Morning, Music Lovers. We’ve got a wide open stream all day today except for our tribute to Dusty Hill of ZZ Top, our first open stream day in a while.
Today, we put ZZ Top In the Spotlight as we remember bassist Dusty Hill.
Here’s Friday’s line-up:
10:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of ZZ Top NEW!
Today we put ZZ Top In the Spotlight in tribute to Dusty Hill, who passed away in his sleep on July 27 at the age of 72. ZZ Top was formed in Houston, Texas in 1969 by guitarist and vocalist Billy Gibbons. After a few personnel changes, drummer Frank Beard and bassist Dusty Hill joined in 1969 and 1970 respectively. This line-up remained constant until Hill’s death the other day.
That is our only programming for the day. The rest of the day is wide Open Stream at the discretion of The Music Mermaid, who has impeccable taste, I might add. We’re free 24/7. We don’t ask for your credit card number of personal information. And we don’t disturb your music with advertising.
Good Morning, Musicologists! It’s Friday here in The Mermaid Lounge and we’re giving you lots of open stream today as we prepare for our usual hectic Saturday programming.
Later on today, The Ladies are in charge.
Here’s your line-up:
12:00 p.m. Duane Allman & Eric Clapton: Studio Jams 1-6
Here we have just over an hour of music from two of the best in the business, just hanging out in the studio together blowing the doors off the place. Enjoy.
7:00 p.m. The All-Girl Revue Volume 3: Various Artists
We haven’t heard one of these for a while. The time is absolutely right. In this volume, you’ll hear Linda Ronstadt, Phoebe Snow, Norah Jones, Carly Simon, Carole King, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Melissa Etheridge, Valerie Carter, Wendy Waldman, Susan Tedeschi, Aretha Franklin, Melanie, and many more!
In between all this stuff, you’ll hear wide Open Stream today. The Music Mermaid can pick up anything she likes when we’re on that setting. She may even be inclined to pick up a playlist or two. You never know, and I am out of control when she’s in charge. That’s how it works here.
Good Morning, Musicologists! We hope you enjoyed the Fillmore Fest over the July 4th weekend. We’ve had a lot of great programming recently, so we’re opening up the week with a totally Wide Open Monday today as we prepare our material for the rest of the week, beginning with Tuesday Bluesday tomorrow.
In the meantime, we invite all you folks on Facebook to join our new group: Della Piana’s Ungovernable Musical Emporium and Museum. We have lots of fun and informative stuff planned.
But best of all, you can simply tune us in for the best music on the planet, uninterrupted by advertising and chatty DJ’s, free of charge every day, and where it’s simply all about the music:
Good Morning, Music Lovers! Family duty and retail hell call today, so we’re on wide Open Stream all day. Once again, the Music Mermaid is in charge here.
All you need is an open computer tab to reach musical nirvana:
Good Morning, Listeners! Today is a totally Open Stream day here in The Mermaid Lounge right up until early evening, when we air our latest Album of The Week.
Here’s today’s line up!
All Day Open Stream: The Music Mermaid
The Music Mermaid is in charge all day today, rotating our 27,000 song catalogue and, perhaps, tossing in a playlist or two. Perhaps. It’s entirely in her ocean today.
7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Linda Ronstadt, The Stone Poneys & Friends, Volume III
This is our second to last airing of this album, The Stone Poneys’ the third and final studio effort released in 1968 before Linda Ronstadt strikes out on her own to become the Queen of Rock for the next decade.
If you want a flavor of what we’re all about, this would be a good day to listen in. We have a huge music catalogue to offer and we’re not-for-profit. Ever. We ask no personal information, require no subscription, and don’t give a shit about your credit card number. We only want your ears.
Good Morning, Kids! It’s a wide Open Stream Day today and the venerable Music Mermaid is in charge while I am in retail hell…until just a bit later when we celebrate an important musical event in our books.
The Mamas & The Papas’ Monday Monday went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1966
Here is your line-up:
All Day Open Stream: Circulating 27,000 Classic Hits All Day
