Here’s your midweek lineup:

9:00 a.m.  The British Are Coming: Various Artists

Yes, while Britain was falling in love with American rock and roll, we were digging The British Invasion over here, and we play it for you today with The Beatles, The Who, Dave Mason, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Cilla Black, Petula Clark, Lulu, The Searchers, The Hollies, Electric Light Orchestra, the Dave Clark Five, Small Faces, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, Them, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Badfinger, The Yardbirds, Cream, Yes, Traffic, Elton John, The Animals, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, The Spencer Davis Group, Donovan and more!

Mr. Kristofferson is back this afternoon as our featured singer-songwriter.

8:00 p.m.  Elvis Presley: The Complete Sun Sessions

We celebrate Elvis’ birthday just a couple of days late, but with what we believe is the absolute best of Elvis…his early stuff recorded in 1954-1955 at Sun Studios in Memphis. My favorite Elvis song? Mystery Train.

Come on, people. We are here 24/7 at no charge to you. We don’t track you. We don’t require a credit card. All you need is a computer tab and the button right below this post.

Before and after, we run the best wide Open Stream on the Internet and the airwaves. We broadcast 24/7 free of charge and with no commercial interruption.

Today It’s ‘The Original 60’s Rotation’ EP, Dolly’s Rock Opus and We Head to NOLA for Our New Singer-Songwriters, Saturday, November 25, 2023

Welcome, Weekenders! It’s Saturday in The Lounge and we’ve got some early-to-mid sixties music, Dolly’s AOW grand finale, and Fats Domino & Dave Bartholomew as our featured singer-songwriters.

Here’s your Saturday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation, Volume One: Various Artists

This was our very first EP and it was built from two shorter playlists. You’ll hear Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, The Dave Clark Five, The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, The Temptations, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Fats Domino, Procol Harum and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Rockstar by Dolly Parton FINAL AIRING!

This is the final airing of Dolly’s great rock opus, in response to her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, don’t fret. It is party of our standard rotation now.

Every time we play Fats, I ask the same question: Was anybody singing rock n’ roll before Fats? I’m not sure. For absolute sure, Fats Domino was a true pioneer of the genre…one of the forefathers who made it happen. Today, along with his long-time collaborator, Dave Bartholomew, Fats is our featured singer-songwriter.

We Kick Off Tom Petty Month With a Single Agenda Item: Our ‘Tom Petty’s Top 100’ EP, Monday, October 2, 2023

Good morning, Petty lovers! Six years ago today, Tom Petty passed away into rock n’ roll heaven to hang out with Roy Orbison and George Harrison again. Or at least that’s what I’d envision were that a reality. It freaked me out like John Lennon’s death freaked me out.

We kick off Tom Petty Month With One Agenda Item:

10:00 a.m. Tom Petty’s Top 100 Best Songs

Tom Petty passed away six years ago today, on October 2, 2017, one week after the final live show of the Heartbreakers’ 40th Anniversary Tour at the Hollywood Bowl. Dr. Tom Petty left behind a volume of work, some perhaps still unexplored, to keep his musical vision alive.

Today we have Tom Petty’s Top 100 songs from his time as a Heartbreaker, a member of The Traveling Wilburys and founder of Mudcrutch. Then, there’s his solo career. Let’s not forget that (even though his fellow Heartbreakers were always present).

Come on in! It’s Tom Petty Month and the music’s just fine. When we started this, we saturated the airwaves for a couple of years. We’ve toned it down a bit. You’ll hear a couple of Petty things per week for a month. We’re ready to rock and roll and remember the leader of one of our House Bands.

We’re at Midweek With ‘The Original Sixties Rotation’ EP, Ray Davies as Singer-Songwriter & the Marshall Tucker Band In the Spotlight, Wednesday, August 23, 2023

Good morning, music lovers everywhere! We’ve got a great lineup today starting with the sixties for hours, then we move on to Ray Davies and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Here’s your midweek lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

You’ll hear Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, the Dave Clark Five, The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, the Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, The Temptations, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Procol Harum, Fats Domino and more!

4:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series; The Music of Ray Davies

The heart and soul of The Kinks takes his second turn as our featured singer-songwriter!

I remember loving these guys in the seventies, and even saw them live a couple of times. They’re still out there, but the band has changed members a ton of times over the past fifty years. One thing remains constant: They put together a string of great songs in the seventies that deserves our attention.

Gregg Allman became the heart and soul of the band after his brother died, and he did himself and Duane proud.

We Open With Our ‘M is for Motown’ EP, Carl Perkins & Friends, and a Great Pink Floyd Spotlight Later, Thursday, August 2, 2023

Good morning, music lovers! We’ve got a pretty eclectic lineup coming your way today with Motown, legendary Carl Perkins and some of his friends, and the spotlight on Pink Floyd.

Here’s your Thursday lineup:

9:00 a.m. M is For Motown: Various Artists

Motown. Motor City. Hitsville. With music from Barrett Strong, Eddie Kendricks, Eddie Holland, Edwin Starr, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Jackson Five, Kim Weston, Jr. Walker & The All Stars, Marvin Gaye, Martha & The Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Four Tops, The Isley Brothers, The Temptations, The Contours, Rare Earth, Mary Wells, Tammi Terrell, Diana Ross & The Supremes and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Go Cat Go! by Carl Perkins & Friends

They say you’re judged by the company you keep. I’d say Carl Perkins is in good shape with Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and more on this great album.

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Pink Floyd

Been a while since we’ve heard the Floyd around these parts, so tonight we are putting them In the Spotlight where they belong.

Another great day of music for the mind and body. Give us a try. You’ll love us. I promise. You have absolutely nothing to lose. We won’t cost you a penny. Not one cent.

We Keep It Simple With Our Carl Perkins & Friends AOW, and Our ‘Water, Water Everywhere’ Multi-Artist EP, Sunday, July 30, 2023

Good morning, weekenders! It’s officially a day of rest and the living is easy. We keep it simple here in The Mermaid Lounge too. Some streaming with a theme, our AOW and the rest our big, wide Open Stream with The Music Mermaid.

Here’s your musical landscape:

Perkins has made a few of these, but on this particular version (our favorite) his friends are outstanding with George Harrison, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Ringo Starr, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, John Fogerty, Paul McCartney and Paul Simon. This one is fun.

3:00 p.m. Water, Water Everywhere: Various Artists

We’ve given you the drill before: The earth is composed of 71% water. You’d think people would be concerned with taking care of that natural resource, but you’d be pretty wrong about that at this stage in our environmental history. You’ll hear from Paul McCartney, Deep Purple, Joe Cocker, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Otis Redding, The Doobie Brothers, Valerie Carter, Bob Dylan, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Al Green, Loggins & Messina, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Linda Ronstadt, Spirit, The Grass Roots, The Beach Boys, Lindisfarne, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Steely Dan, Tom Rush, Donovan, America, Johnny Rivers and more!

Saturday Bring ‘The Original Sixties Rotation’ EP, The Final Airing of “Groovin'” and J.D. Souther as Our Featured Singer-Songwriter on July 22, 2023

Good morning, weekenders! We finally made it to the weekend and we’ve got a great lineup today, starting with our ‘Original Sixties Rotation’ EP!

Here’s today’s musical lineup:

10:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

This particular volume generally covers the early-to-mid sixties, although we can’t guarantee that some later tunes didn’t sneak in. You’ll hear Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, The Dave Clark Five, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Procol Harum, The Temptations, Fats Domino and more!

5:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Groovin’ by The Young Rascals FINAL AIRING!

We bid this great selection a fond farewell today. Tomorrow morning there’ll be a brand new album of the week for you!

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of John David Souther NEW!

This guy had our album of the week a couple of weeks ago and we promised he’d be back, so here he is. Generally know as a songwriter, J.D. Souther is very underrated as a singer. His songs have been sung by many, including Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt. He has also been part of the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Tonight we introduce him as our featured singer-songwriter.

Before, in between and long after our programming is over, we give you that great wide Open Stream courtesy of The Music Mermaid. As you know by now, she has impeccable taste in music. We’re totally free 24/7 with no commercial interruptions.
