Badass Guitarists, The Jerry Garcia Band, and Our Album of The Week Highlight The Day, Thursday, April 15, 2021

Good Morning to all! It’s Thursday in The Mermaid Lounge and we’ve got new music from the Jerry Garcia Band today, along with the handiwork of some of the best guitarists in music!

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Jerry Garcia Band!

Here’s Thursday’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. Badass Guitarists, Volume One: Various Artists

Today we begin with those badasses on guitar. You’ll hear the handiwork of Bonnie Raitt, Dickie Betts, Mike Campbell, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, John Fogerty, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Lowell George, Steve Winwood, Joe Perry, and many more.

3:00 p.m. The Jerry Garcia Band Live at The Orpheum Theatre, Boston, Massachusetts, December 2, 1977 NEW!

The Jerry Garcia Band makes its first appearance here on #BecomeUngovernable Radio in a live performance from my hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. You can bet it will not be the last!

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Hotcakes by Carly Simon

Once again, allow me to reiterate that this is one of the best albums ever made, and certainly my favorite by Carly Simon. Recorded while she was pregnant with her first child, it resulted in two hits: Mockingbird and Haven’t Got Time For The Pain. But personally, I think the best song on the album is Forever My Love.

Here we are again, telling you to tune us in. We’re not for profit radio. Seriously. And we ask you for no credit cards or personal information. Sound crazy? What can I tell you.

We’ve Added New Music To Our Standard Rotation!

We’ve added some new music to our Standard Rotation over the past couple of weeks. This is the first opportunity we’ve had to update you on these additions.

The great Curtis Mayfield.

We’ve added some new people and bands to the rotation, like The Jerry Garcia Band, The Boogaloo Swamis (Cajun/Zydeco), and the combination of Jimi Hendrix & Little Richard.

We’ve also added to the volume of several artists: Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, Emmylou Harris, The Youngbloods, Tracy Chapman and BeauSoleil.

We’ve also cleaned out some duplicates and some old political stuff (we still have more of this junk to go; but it is a painstaking process), giving us a total of 26,834 songs in the rotation.

We will be adding some of our Album of The Week selections to the on-demand section over the next few weeks.

In spite of the fact that we offer several hours of planned programming during each day, the vast majority of our 24-hour cycle is devoted to Open Stream. We hope you’ll tune us in.
