Thursday Brings ‘Music From Laurel Canyon’, ELO’s AOW, and The Beatles’ Love Songs, February 15, 2024

Good morning, citizens! Today we’ve got the pioneers from Laurel Canyon, Eldorado by Electric Light Orchestra, and the love songs of The Beatles.

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m.  Music From Laurel Canyon: Various Artists

Laurel Canyon was the proving ground for bands for two decades of music. They lived and worked in harmony cross-fertilizing each other and establishing the country-rock genre. You’ll hear The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Buffalo Springfield, The Beach Boys, The Doors, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, CSNY, Manassas, John Mayall, The Eagles, J.D. Souther, Harry Nilsson, Canned Heat, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, James Taylor, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, The Souther-Hillman-Furay Band and more! This one is due for an update soon!

4:00 p.m.  Album of The Week: Eldorado by Electric Light Orchestra

We are winding down on this album’s 50th birthday celebration. The final airing will be sometime Saturday.

8:00 p.m.  The Beatles: The Love Songs

We could not completely walk away from Valentines Day without this playlist. The Beatles were masters of the love song, and we’ve got them for you this evening.

Well, gang, we’re over the hump and on the downslide to another weekend. We’ll help you get there in musical style with some old music and some new additions! Tune us in. Just use the button below.

Duane Allman & Eric Clapton Rock the Studio, Love is For Losers, and Our Album of The Week, Thursday, September 10, 2020

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We have Duane Allman and Eric Clapton jamming at Criterion Studios, a playlist for those losers in love out there (myself included, by the way), and our Album of the Week.

Two Guitar Gods join forces in the studio!

Here’s today’s programming line-up:

11:00 a.m. Duane Allman & Eric Clapton Studio Jams 1 Thru 6

One day Duane Allman was working at Criterion Studios when Eric Clapton and his band, Derek & The Dominos, dropped by to record. They were introduced and the rest is history. The result became known as The Layla Sessions.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Heaven Is In Your Mind by Traffic

You can learn the history of this great album, or any of our AOW selections, by simply clicking on the album cover image in the right sidebar!

7:00 p.m. Nothing But Heartbreak: Various Artists

“I been through diamonds! I been through minks! I been through it all! Love Stinks!” J. Geils’ lament is just one of the songs for the lovelorn you’ll hear on today’s featured playlist!

So, again, I’m wondering what the people in the U.S. are waiting for. Europe, Asia and other far-flung locations are all over this radio station. As usual, the toddlers are running behind. We’re free. We require no information. All you need to do is pull up a tab. Seriously.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Sing Just About Everyone, We Have Nothing But Heartbreak, and “Tapestry” Gets Its Turn, Sunday, June 7, 2020

It’s Sunday Funday, Ungovernables! We have Petty, Heartbreak, and Tapestry as Album of the Week. What could be better?

Here’s your Sunday Funday line-up!

11:00 a.m.   Petty Theft: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

This is one of our most popular playlists, and we haven’t played it for a while, so we thought this would be a good day. The Heartbreakers was one of the best cover bands on the planet, without question. All you need to do is listen.

3:00 p.m.    Nothing But Heartbreak: Various Artists   NEW!

We have all been down this road, haven’t we? Some of us more than others, but we’ll save my obvious bad choices for another venue. Heartbreak is clearly a prime source of some great music. Our new playlist proves that.

The track list is already up inder the Playlist tab. Please scroll to the bottom.

7:00 p.m.   Album of the Week: Tapestry by Carole King   NEW!

I literally wore this vinyl out. Then I had it on vinyl and 8-track. Then cassette. Then CD. Yeah. I’m fucking old. But this masterpiece never gets old. By the way, Carole King is one of the greatest songwriters ever.

Make this the day you tune us in. You will not regret it.
