She’s a (primarily) folk singer, songwriter, guitar and piano player who is known for her stripped-down songwriting style. Her songs have been covered by many singers, including Emmylou Harris, Rory Block and Bette Midler. Phoebe Snow was an amazing singer, songwriter and guitarist who shot into the public sphere with her song Poetry Man back in 1974. She released a series of great albums before fading from the music scene to take care of her daughter, who was born with severe brain damage. She cared for her daughter until her death at the age of 31. While this undoubtedly nearly ended her career, Snow left a legacy of great music behind.

Make no mistake about it, if I were still doing big venue shows, they would be the first I attend. But I’m not. I’m not sure they could fit in a small venue, but if they could, I’d be there.
