And that’s because we still have yet to do Lennon-McCartney as our featured singer-songwriters. (That is coming.) Macca’s body of work since The Beatles split is immense, beginning with his ten years leading Wings (longer than The Beatles existed) and his solo work. 11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash NEW!

One of the great musical supergroups released this album in May of 1969, and it elevated them to instant stardom. This would be the only album released before they added Neil Young to the group. It spawned two Top 40 hits in Marrakesh Express and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (for Judy Collins), but every song on this album became a CSN classic. It also shifted the music world from strictly blues-based music played on loud guitars and introduced the folk-rock sound. They opened the door for others playing the same genre.

3:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

Emmylou Harris returns with our Album of The Week released on February 7, 1975 (my 21st birthday). This time it’s her second studio release and the first on a major label. It is a tour de force without a doubt. She covers songs by Dolly Parton, Lennon & McCartney, Charles & Ira Louvin, and Rodney Crowell, among others. But the most beautiful song on the album is one she co-wrote with Bill Danoff, Boulder To Birmingham, written for the great Gram Parsons, who passed in 1973.

3:00 p.m. Under the Influence: Various Artists

Hell, it’s always a good day to tune in, turn on, and drop out as far as I’m concerned.
