Welcome to Tuesday Bluesday With The Blues Project, The Rolling Stones ‘Live’ at The Checkerboard Lounge With Muddy Waters, and Our Album of The Week, December 28, 2021

Happy Tuesday, Bluesologists! We’ve got a couple of ‘live’ blues entries today sandwiched around our Album of The Week. Check it out below!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday line-up:

11:00 a.m. The Blues Project: Reunion in Central Park, NY, June 24, 1973 NEW!

The original members of The Blues Project reunited as part of the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park in 1973 and we’ve got their live performance here for you today. The Schaefer Music Festival was a “thing” back in the day. I believe they had their name on the Bicentennial Concert (Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, among others) here back in 1976 also. That one was held at…wait for it…Schaefer Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Just a bit of non-essential music history.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles

An EP in the UK, but a full-blown album here in the U.S. as Capitol Records added their five hit releases from 1967 to create an album of timeless music. If you want to know what five tunes were added, take a look at Sunday’s blog entry, or click on the album image in the right-hand sidebar for all the details on the album!

7:00 p.m. Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones, Live from The Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago, IL, November 22, 1981

The Stones and Muddy Waters join forces to bring you some great blues classics, like Baby Please Don’t Go, Got My Mojo Workin’, Hoochie Coochie Man and more live from The Checkerboard Lounge. You can get all the details right here about who played in the band, and who sat in, and other songs in their set.

We’re up and running this morning and have some new locations to report, like Indonesia, Iceland, and Finland to go along with Germany, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Russian Federation, the UK, Ireland, and Texas. Yes. Texas. Join the party.

It’s Tuesday Bluesday With Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and J. Geils With Our Album of The Week, March 30, 2021

Good Morning, Bluesologists, we are here in The Mermaid Lounge with your Tuesday Bluesday offering, and even the J. Geils Band shoehorns in nicely on this day!

We begin this Tuesday Bluesday with Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones!

Here’s your Tuesday Bluesday line-up:

11:00 a.m. Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live From The Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago, November 22, 1981

Most of the British Invasion bands were steeped in the blues and R & B, and this is certainly true of Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones. Today we have a great union live from the famed Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago between The Stones and Muddy Waters.

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Love Stinks by The J. Geils Band

Certainly my favorite J. Geils album out of the many they gave us. In my humble opinion, they were the true bad boys of Boston, no matter what anyone else tells you.

7:00 p.m. John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers Live at The BBC (1965-1967)

This excellent compilation features all of the Bluesbreakers’ live BBC performances plus the the “Old Grey Whistle Test” performances.

Tuesday Bluesday is always a good day to tune us in, no doubt about it. But then again, every day is because we’re totally free and require absolutely no personal information at any time.

Muddy & Mick get down at The Checkerboard Lounge!

Here’s today’s bluesy line-up:

12:00 p.m. Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live From The Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago, November 22, 1981

Does it get any better than this? The blues are in the Stones’ DNA! This is a great little interlude from the Windy City.

Afternoon Open Stream with Special Three-in-a-Row Blues Jams

We’re open streaming in the afternoon until just about 7:00 p.m. We’ll have special Three-in-a-Row Blues Jams all day from Canned Heat, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more!

7:00 p.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Sing The Blues

Tom Petty once remarked that he’d like it if The Heartbreakers could just get old together sitting in chairs and playing the blues. We would have loved that too. In the meantime, The Heartbreakers certainly could sing and play the blues indeed, and here’s the proof.

It’s time you tuned us in. Listen, you have absolutely nothing to lose. Nada. There are no charges. Ever. There is no need to give us any of your personal information. We don’t ask for it. We don’t require a credit card because there are no hidden charges. Get with the program.
