Good Morning, Ungovernables! We have a little Cajun-Zydeco to go along with your Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, and Richie Havens today!

Richie Havens

Here’s your mid-week line-up!

Sometimes we forget how good this music really is. BeauSoleil reminds us.

4:00 p.m.    Richie Havens Sings The Beatles & Dylan   NEW!

I had forgotten this even existed until I was hunting around for something else. Richie Havens got on the map by being the opening act at the original Woodstock. The only real Woodstock.

7:00 p.m.    Dylan & The Dead

A classic from that long, strange road trip they took together in 1978.

Tune us in. We’ve made it half way through already.

Here is your Monday, Monday line-up:

12:00 p.m.  The Beatles: The Early Years   NEW!

Somebody argued with me over whether or not the Beatles were the best rock n’ roll band ever. I never said they were. I said they were the best damned band ever. They were never limited by genre. They changed everything. In this playlist, we focus on their early years.

4:00 p.m.    It’s Mudcrutch Monday!

Yes, it’s Mudcrutch Monday, and we’re airing our Mudcrutch Madness playlist for you.

7:00 p.m.    Stephen Stills: Live at the Capitol Theater (1979)

Buffalo Springfield. Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Sometimes Young). Manassas. The Stills-Young Band. Solo. Stephen Stills’ contribution cannot be denied.

It’s a Sixties Sunday! And “Elite Hotel” Debuts as Album of the Week on an Easter Sunday Lockdown, April 12, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Music soothes the soul, so this is exactly where you should be during these ridiculously oppressive times.

c6499bac7a9ed4d396dfb7afec1294af

Here’s your Sunday Funday line-up:

11:00 a.m.   Album of the Week: Elite Hotel, by Emmylou Harris NEW!

The first time I ever heard Emmylou Harris sing was on Bob Dylan’s Desire album. I was hooked. When I found Elite Hotel, my love affair began in earnest, and it has not abated. Elite Hotel was Emmylou’s third album release, and her second in 1975. It was preceded by Pieces of The Sky, also a critically-acclaimed release. We will have Pieces of the Sky up in the future.

2:00 p.m.     The Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

It’s back! Five hours of continuous streaming of the best music in history, featuring The Beatles, The Doors, The Kinks, The Shirelles, Janis Joplin, The Byrds, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye…we’ve got it all!

Hey, the bunny is taking the year off. Tune us in. You won’t regret it.

And I’m not kidding you: All you need to do is click the link below and you’re there.

Van Morrison “Live” in Montreux, Linda Ronstadt “Live” at Rockpalast, The Band in the Spotlight, and Our Album of the Week, Thursday, April 9, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’re getting off to an early posting start because we’re getting off to a 10:00 a.m. musical start!

Here’s today’s incredible line-up:

10:00 a.m.   Album of the Week: Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones

This is not only one of my favorite all-time albums, but the song Gimme’ Shelter is one of my all-time favorite songs. That inerlude by Merry Clayton is amazing.

1:00 p.m.    Van Morrison: Live From Montreux, Switzerland   NEW!

Van Morrison was built to last. He began his career in 1964 with the British blues band Them. They were billed as part of the British Invasion, and their most famous hit is Gloria, but I also remember them for Baby Please Don’t Go. For Van Morrison and his fans (and I am one), the rest is history.

5:00 p.m.   Linda Ronstadt: Live at Rockpalast, Germany

Speaking of built to last. I have no doubt that Linda Ronstadt would still be musically contributing in some way had she not been robbed of her lifeblood by Parkinsons. What we do have is an amazing body of work that crosses all kinds of genres and defied the naysayers who said, “You can’t sing that. You’ll ruin your career.” She did. And it didn’t.

8:00 a.m.   In the Spotlight: The Music of The Band

Yeah. And then, there’s these guys. This is the perfect way to close out today.

Tune us in, people. www.tinyurl.com/becomeungovernableradio

New “Live” Stones in Japan, Jimi Hendrix & Stephen Stills “In Session,” and We’d All Be Happier Under the Influence, Monday, April 6, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Welcome to another Monday morning in paradise. Well, maybe not so much. But we’ll make you feel a bit better with some great music today!

Rolling Stones Live

Here’s Monday’s line-up:

1:00 p.m.   Under the Influence: Various Artists

Legal. Illegal. Contraband. Some great music about being under the influence, while possibly under the influence.

4:00 p.m.   The Rolling Stones: Live in Saitama, Japan (4-2-2006)  NEW!

This would be the 69th show of the Rolling Stones’ 2006 tour. You can check out the set list in our Playlist section. Just scroll down to the bottom!

7:00 p.m.   Jimi Hendrix & Stephen Stills: In Sessions (1968)

Fun fact: It was Stephen Stills who taught Jimi Hendrix how to play guitar. He took that learning to ridiculous heights.

Tune us in. We’re free. No commercials. No charge. And nothing to fill out.

Bob Dylan’s New Song, A Tribute to Bill Withers, Our New “Live Dead” & The Last Airing of “Souvenirs,” on Saturday, April 4, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’ve got some great programming today, including Bob Dylan’s first new release in eight years. By the way, the fun begins early today!

Bill Withers-2

Here’s your line-up:

9:00 a.m.   Album of the Week: Souvenirs by Dan Fogelberg.

Our final airing. Tomorrow when you roll out of bed, there’ll be a new Album of the Week posted on the blog.

1:00 p.m.   Bob Dylan’s Ode to JFK: Murder Most Foul   NEW!

A surprise release from Dylan that brings the JFK assassination back home again. We will play this release several times over the next week.

4:00 p.m.   In the Spotlight: The Music of Bill Withers  NEW!

The guy who never cared about being a star certainly left us a great body of work. We pay tribute to Withers today. He passed away on March 30th.

10:00 p.m. Live Dead: The Grateful Dead, Europe ’72: Copenhagen, April 17, 1972 NEW!

This is the second Copenhagen show of the tour; not a repeat of our earlier broadcast. And we all know that no two Dead shows are ever the same.

Hey, we’re stuck at home. You should tune us in. Nothing required but a computer and a tab on your browser.

George Harrison in The Spotlight, The Heartbreakers Live at Rockpalast & The Beatles Live in Stockholm, Thursday, April 2, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’re back with some great programming today, starting right off at 10:00 a.m. with George Harrison.

Beatles Stockholm 1963-3

Here’s your line-up:

10:00 a.m.   In the Spotlight: The Music of George Harrison

The quiet Beatle wasn’t so quiet after all. He was the first to release a solo effort after The Beatles parted ways (All Things Must Pass).  The Concert for Bangladesh was the first real “benefit” concert ever held. And he not only was the lead guitarist for The Beatles. He was a successful solo artist and a member of The Traveling Wilburys.

3:00 p.m.   Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Live at Rockpalast (1999)

Playing at Rockpalast is a rite of passage for rockers. Thousands of bands have played at Rockpalast, and the performances are broadcast live to the German public. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ 1999 performance is considered one of the best.  NEW!

8:00 p.m.   The Beatles: Live in Stockholm 1963

Back in 1963, the Beatles were babes and Beatlemania was in its infancy. Little did we know what madness would ensue!

10:00 p.m.  Album of the Week: Dan Fogelberg’s Souvenirs

Tune in. Turn on. Drop out.  www.tinyurl.com/becomeungovernableradio

Laura Nyro in the Spotlight, Little Feat “Live” in Boston, and Our New Album of The Week, Sunday, March 29, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s a rainy Sunday here, and perfect for settling in and listening to non-stop music. Just whistle while you plot a revolution.

little-feat-live-album-crop-2-1200x632

Here’s your Sunday Funday line-up:

11:00 a.m.    Album of the Week: Souvenirs, by Dan Fogelberg

This was Dan Fogelberg’s second studio album, released in October 1974, and it’s one of my favorites. I’m not one to listen to music critics, and albums like this make me happy that I don’t. He has a lot of really legit help here: Don Henley, Russ Kunkel, Al Perkins, Graham Nash, and Glenn Frey. Produced by Joe Walsh. Give it a listen.

3:00 p.m.     In the Spotlight: The Music of Laura Nyro

Laura’s compositions have resulted in hits for many, like The Fifth Dimension, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Three Dog Night, and Peter, Paul & Mary. Now, it’s her turn in the spotlight.

6:00 p.m.     Little Feat, Live at the Orpheum Theater, Boston, MA  NEW!

What can you say about Little Feat? I’ve seen these guys — in their Lowell George iteration — several times. They are untouchable. We’re working on some new live stuff beyond this as well for down the road a piece.

Don’t know what it’s doing there, but as long as you have a computer tab or a phone, there’s always time for music.

The Last Hurrah for “Court & Spark,” Clapton and B.B. King Play the Blues, and “Live Dead” in Denmark, Saturday, March 28, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s Saturday, and that marks my last day at the mines before my weekend officially begins. We’re starting it out strong today.

Eric Clapton & B.B. King-3

Here’s your Saturday line-up!

2:00 p.m.    Album of the Week: Joni Mitchell’s Court & Spark

We bid a fond farewell to one of the best damned albums ever recorded. Tomorrow when you wake up, there’ll be a brand new selection on our main page!

6:00 p.m.    B.B. King & Eric Clapton: Riding With the King

B.B. King and Eric Clapton seemed to be a natural combination, and we were right about that. You’ll love this selection.

10:00 p.m.  Live Dead: Europe ’72, The Grateful Dead Live in Aarhaus, Denmark 4-16-72   NEW!

After a brief interlude in Honolulu last week, we’re back on the Europe ’72 train this week as we work our way through the tour.

If you’re stuck in lockdown, there’s no better way to weather the storm than to tune in to #BecomeUngovernable Radio.

The quintessential Southern Rock band; the grandaddys of the genre. And always a class act. The road goes on forever.

6:00 p.m.     Bob Dylan & Friends: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration  NEW!

Speaking of legends, we’ve got plenty of them participating in this celebration of everything Bob Dylan has contributed to the greatest music generation ever. Revelers include Tom Petty, Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, and Roger McGuinn.

You can check out the set list in the Playlist tab. Scroll down to the bottom!
