It’s Finally Friday With The Beatles ‘Singles Collection,’ The Heartbreakers Live in Germany, and Our Second ‘All-Girl Revue,’ On September 12, 2025

Good morning, music lovers. Today is a day for our ‘House Bands’ here in The Mermaid Lounge with The Beatles and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers!

Here’s your Finally Friday lineup:

We kick it off with the greatest rock band of all time as we give you every Beatles single released worldwide in order. This is the set up: The first song is the A-side, the second the B-side, all the way down the list. For example, Love Me Do is the A-side, P.S. I Love You is the B-side and on and on. We’ve added Now And Then at the bottom as their last single. The B-side of that single was, of course, Love Me Do, which is already at the top of the list. Now And Then was their release; Love Me Do was their first. Enjoy.

4:00 p.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at The Docks, Hanburg, Germany, April 23, 1999

This afternoon it’s The Heartbreakers recorded live for the Rockpalast TV show in a performance at The Docks.

Many of you know him merely as Dion of Runaround Sue fame, but Dion DiMucci is so much more than that. He has spent decades honing his craft and reinventing himself masterfully. This is just Dion and his guitar in a fantastic performance at The Bitter End.

8:00 p.m. Jeff Lynne’s ELO: In The Spotlight

Friday It’s ‘The Summer of Love Countdown,’ Followed by Live Shows From CCR and Carly Simon, August 29, 2025

Good morning, musicologists. What were you listening to on the radio during the Summer of Love? We begin our farewell to summertime today with just such a playlist culled from radio stations across the country.

Here’s your Finally Friday musical lineup:

10:00 a.m. The Summer of Love Countdown: Various Artists

We kick off the day with our ‘Summer of Love Countdown’ playlist. Contrary to popular (and misinformed) opinion, this was during the summer of 1967, not 1969, my friends. We’ve culled the best songs being played across the nation during that time from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Association, The Rascals, Bobbie Gentry, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Spanky & Our Gang, The Hollies, Petula Clark, Aretha Franklin, Johnny Rivers, The Box Tops, Procol Harum, Scott McKenzie, The Grass Roots, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Paul Revere & The Raiders and more!

4:00 p.m. Creedence Clearwater Revival Live at The Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA, July 4, 1971

We tune in this afternoon to four guys from Berkeley, CA who sounded like they came straight out of the Louisiana bayou. CCR was a spectacular band whose music has stood the test of time.

8:00 p.m. Carly Simon Live at Grand Central Station, New York, NY, April 2, 1995

This impromptu performance was the idea of Jackie Kennedy Onassis to commemorate their friendship and to address Simon’s stage fright problem. April 2, 1995, was her first live performance in 14 years, where she and her band performed songs for unsuspecting commuters in the main terminal.

Once again, we’re here and we’re completely free of charge. There’s also no commercial advertising. See for yourselves. The button is below, my friends.

On Thursday It’s ‘What’s In a Name,’ a Willie Nelson ‘Spotlight,’ and New Live Paul Simon from Hyde Park, UK, August 28, 2025

Good morning, musicologists and welcome to Thursday and the downslide to the weekend. We’ve got a great lineup today starting with an EP that has been on a hiatus for a few months!

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. What’s In a Name: Various Artists

We’ve got all kinds of characters in this one, some real and some imagined, from Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Them, Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Donovan, Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Warren Zevon, Laura Nyro, Bobbie Gentry, The Kinks, Three Dog Night, The Association, Joni Mitchell, Badfinger, Linda Ronstadt, Steely Dan, Chi Coltrane, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Tony Joe White, and more!

4:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Willie Nelson

The legend and one of the original music outlaws who challenged the restrictive attitudes of the country music industry will be ‘In The Spotlight’ this afternoon.

We close with Paul Simon delivering a career-defining performance live from Hyde Park in London. It’s a great show.

We’re here 24/7 and we remain free of charge. That won’t change. We promise. We’re also free of commercial interruption. All you have to do to see for yourself is hit the button below.

Good morning, music lovers and welcome to the midweek! We’ve got our ‘Original Sixties Rotation’ as the opener, followed by some new live Heartbreakers and Shawn Colvin!

The Sixties are indeed back at this radio station!

Here’s your midweek musical lineup!

9:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

Yeah, The Sixties never left as far as I’m concerned. You’ll hear the timeless music of The Beatles, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Joe Cocker, Little Eva, Simon & Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, The Searchers, Dusty Springfield, The Drifters, The Dave Clark Five, Johnny Rivers, Bob Dylan, The Animals, Petula Clark, The Rolling Stones, Procol Harum, The Turtles, Del Shannon, The Temptations, James Brown, Fontella Bass, Blues Image, Booker T & the MGs, The Four Tops, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Left Banke, Fats Domino, and more!

I am actually thrilled that I found this because I was at this show and it was one fantastic performance under the stars at one of the most amazing music venues on the planet.

8:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Shawn Colvin

We close out the programming with one of the greats, singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin.

As usual, we’re here 24/7 playing the best music on the planet uninterrupted with commercials and DJs who don’t know when to shut their word holes. The button is below:

We’ve Got a Great Monday With Our New ‘Flower Power’ Playlist, Live Todd Rundgren, and a Talking Heads ‘Spotlight’ Feature, On August 18, 2025

Happy Monday! We’re kicking off the week with some great playlists on tap, including our new ‘Flower Power’ offering. Then it’s live Todd Rundgren, and a Talking Heads ‘Spotlight.’

Here’s your Monday, Monday lineup:

I was reminiscing with a friend about spending the summers outside, laying around with our transistor radios and listening to WMEX. At that time AM radio was king and those stations played the absolute best music. Then we started on about the songs we remember, and a playlist was born. It features Donovan, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Beatles, The Five Man Electrical Band, Three Dog Night, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, The Band, Bob Dylan, Brewer & Shipley, The Mamas & Papas, Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Don McLean, Oliver, and more!

4:00 p.m. Todd Rundgren Live at The Electric Ballroom, Milwaukee, WI, October 23, 1978

Ah, yes, Todd Rundgren. I damned near wore out the grooves of Something, Anything back in the day. Love this guy, and we’re working on a ‘Spotlight’ feature for him now.

8:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Talking Heads

We close out the programming with Talking Heads ‘In the Spotlight.’ We focus mostly on bands from the sixties and seventies here, but this is one of those bands who fit nicely into our “exceptions” rule. One of the best.

We’re back on Monday, and that means the return of the work week. But hey, it doesn’t have to be all that bad when you’ve got the best music on the planet right in front of you. We’re on 24/7 and we’re totally free. See for yourselves. The Button is below!

On Saturday, It’s ‘Music From Laurel Canyon,’ a Stephen Stills ‘Spotlight,’ and Joni Mitchell Live in Brussels, August 16, 2025

Good morning, music lovers and welcome to the weekend! We kick it off in style with the music that challenged the British Invasion rule of the U.S. charts.

Here’s your Saturday musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. Music From Laurel Canyon: Various Artists

Two decades of musicians lived and worked in Laurel Canyon, where they cross-pollinated styles and birthed country-rock. You’ll hear The Byrds, The Mamas & Papas, Buffalo Springfield, The Beach Boys, The Doors, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, CSNY, John Mayall, The Eagles, J.D. Souther, Harry Nilsson, Canned Heat, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, James Taylor, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, and more!

8:00 p.m. Joni Mitchell Live at Cirque Royale, Brussels, Belgium, August 26, 1983 NEW!

We close with a new-to-the-station live performance by Joni Mitchell on her Refuge world tour.

I have one day left of retail servitude, but The Music Mermaid will be here to get you through the day. As always, we’re on 24/7 and we’re totally free…no strings and no surprises. We play the best music on the planet with no commercial interruption. The button is below.
