8:00 p.m. Brandi Carlile Live at Benaroya Hall, Seattle, WA, November 19, 2010

We close it out tonight with Brandi Carlile along with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra live at Benaroya Hall.

It’s another Monday, and we have to deal with it…along with another work week. We’re on 247 for your listening pleasure, so we’re here to fit your schedule. We’re totally free and we’re also free of commercial interruption. The button is below.

On Sunday It’s ‘The Founders,’ a New Playlist Called ‘Ladies of The Canyon,’ and a Beach Boys ‘Spotlight’ In Memory of the Brilliant Brian Wilson, June 15, 2025

Good morning, musicologists! We’ve got a huge day today as we expand our women’s playlist collection, and pay tribute to one of the most incredible songwriters in pop music history as we pay tribute to Brian Wilson.

Here’s your Sunday Funday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Founders: Various Artists

We take a trip in The Wayback Machine to pay homage to the innovators and pioneers of rock and roll, including Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner, Hank Williams, Bill Haley & His Comets, Ray Charles, The Drifters, Roy Orbison, Robert Johnson, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, and more!

While working on ‘Festival Week’ recently, I found some info on social media and someone asked if these three were ‘friends.’ Turns out, they were. In fact all three ladies spent time in Laurel Canyon perfecting their craft. That’s when I decided I’d make this playlist and call it ‘Ladies of The Canyon,’ which also happens to be the name of a Joni Mitchell album.

8:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of The Beach Boys

Suffice it to say that Brian Wilson was the genius and force behind The Beach Boys, a man with incredible musical vision and compositional skills. For me, and for many others, Pet Sounds was the moment when we realized his genius. However, when I went back after hearing Pet Sounds, I realized it didn’t start there. It certainly didn’t end there either. Brian Wilson passed on last week, and today we pay him tribute.

‘No Kings’ was massive, invigorating, and inspiring yesterday. We cannot let up. However, today I’m rejuvenating myself with some music as we prepare for the next round of the fight. We’re here 24/7. We’re totally free. We’re without commercial interruption. We play the best damned music on the planet. The button is below.

You’ll hear Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Cream, Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Steve Winwood, The Beatles, Albert King, Fats Domino, Genesis, Bob Dylan, Loggins & Messina, Joe Walsh, The Rolling Stones, Linda Ronstadt, Taj Mahal, and more!

4:00 p.m. Little Feat Live at Ebbets Field, Denver, CO, July 20, 1973

The original Feat with Lowell George is unparalleled, and that’s what we’ve got here. A great performance from Ebbets Field will be a treat this afternoon.

8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Tracy Chapman

We close out the day’s programming with singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman’s music. Funny that I find it hard to believe that she’s in her sixties now. She’s one of the best of her generation.

We’re here 24/7 and we play the best music on the planet. In between our programming, we air our vast library of 27,000 songs without commercial interruption. We’re anti-capitalist and we’re all about the music. There’s never a charge to tune us in. The button is below.

We hop into the Wayback Machine this afternoon for Dylan’s brilliant appearance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

According to the above-mentioned musical genius known as Bob Dylan, The Everly Brothers “started it all.” Indeed, they were game changers and a huge influence on many, many artists that would follow, including The Beatles and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Adria Petty, Tom Petty’s daughter, named her daughter Everly in honor of The Everly Brothers. If you are not familiar, you can read more about them here. Better still, tune them in this evening!

Yeah, I don’t have to repeat all the usual stuff this morning, do I? You know, we’re on 24/7. We’re totally free. Yadda. Yadda. You can find out for yourself by hitting the button below!

Newly expanded with about 30 minutes of new music from artists like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Beatles, The Kingsmen, The Who, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, and many more who fell victim to the paranoia of some radio station executives.

The Fab Four did a lot of live ‘in studio’ performances during their early years to help get their songs out to the world. This series was called Pop Go The Beatles, and it’s a great collection of music. Enjoy.
