Good Morning, Bluesologists! We’ve got yet another Tuesday Bluesday in the works here in The Mermaid Lounge with some great programming.
Roomful of Blues is In the Spotlight at 11:00 a.m.
Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. In The Spotlight: Roomful of Blues
Up first today we have one of the best blues bands you may never have heard from. These guys have been around for more than fifty years. If you’ve never heard them before, don’t you think it’s about time?
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
The second airing of one of Bob Marley & The Wailers’ best albums ever that spawned several of the band’s biggest hits.
7:00 p.m. The Robert Cray Band with Special Guest Stevie Ray Vaughan, Live at Club Redux, Dallas, Texas, January 21, 1987
Tonight we have a live performance with The Robert Cray Band and special guest Stevie Ray Vaughan at Club Redux in Dallas. Don’t miss it.
It’s Tuesday Bluesday, so tune us in. If you’re a blues fan, this is an excellent day to do so. We take no advertising, make no profit, run 24/7, don’t employ long-winded DJ’s, and play the best music on the planet.
Here we are on another Monday in The Mermaid Lounge. We haven’t had a Mudcrutch Monday in quite a while, according to my calendar. It’s about that time.
It’s Mudcrutch Monday here in The Mermaid Lounge!
Here’s today’s line-up:
10:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Paul McCartney
We kick off Monday with Macca Music as a founding member of The Beatles and Wings, and as a solo artist. His career spans more than five decades, making him a living legend.
3:00 p.m. Mudcrutch Monday Madness
Mudcrutch is known as Tom Petty’s “other” band, but it was actually Tom Petty’s first band…the band that left Gainesville for L.A., the band that morphed into Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. When Tom Petty brought the original Mudcrutch back together in 2008, it wasn’t just a diversion for him. Mudcrutch made some serious music, and we’ve got the entire catalogue here today.
It’s Memorial Day here and the only thing we’re celebrating today is music. No parades. No flag waving. None of that nonsense. Just music. Tune us in if you’re hanging around looking for something to do. You won’t regret it.
It’s our usual busy Saturday here in The Mermaid Lounge, and we have a great line-up of programming as we wind down our tribute to Dylan’s 80th birthday.
We have Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live From The Olympic on The Last DJ Tour!
Here’s Saturday’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live From The Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, October 16, 2002
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers live at The Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles on The Last DJ tour. You know how the music critics are. Albums with a great collection of songs are not good enough anymore. They all have to have a “concept” behind them. But that is exactly what The Last DJ is: A great collection of songs amidst Petty’s lament about what radio has become. And as someone who grew up with a transistor glued to my right ear listening to AM radio (which was where the best music was at the time), WMEX in Boston, I can empathize wholeheartedly. This is a great performance, people.
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: The Wallflowers by The Wallflowers FINAL AIRING!
Today is the final airing of The Wallflowers. Tomorrow when you roll out of bed, there will be a brand new selection. And although we have it chosen, we give you no hints.
7:00 p.m. Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash: In Session, Nashville 1969
Back when Bob Dylan was recording Nashville Skyline, he got together with another master named Johnny Cash and they recorded a bunch of songs. Only one, Girl From The North Country, made it to Nashville Skyline. This is the result of that recording session.
10:00 p.m. Live Dead! The Grateful Dead Live at McArthur Court, The University of Oregon, Eugene, January 22, 1978 NEW!
Tonight we have The Grateful Dead live from McArthur Court at The University of Oregon, another new-to-us LIVE performance for one of the most masterful live bands in the history of music.
I don’t know how it is elsewhere, but it’s cold, rainy and nasty here. I’m forced to work in retail hell today, but if I had my way, I’d tune in to #BecomeUngovernable Radio. Join your friends today from Canada, Italy, Spain, The Russian Federation, The Faroe Islands, The Netherlands, Germany, the UK and Portugal. They’re waiting for you.
The plate is full this fine day as I head back to the salt mines for a three-day stint in the land of retail. I leave you with some great music.
We don’t do much ‘soft rock’ here, but these guys were great at it. They get a place at our table.
Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. That Sweet Soul Sound: Various Artists
There’s nothing like soul music and R & B to get the blood boiling. And I mean the real thing. Not disco. Not rap. The real thing with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Ann Peebles, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Bill Withers, The Shirelles, and more!
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week; The Wallflowers by The Wallflowers
I say this every Thursday, but we’re winding down on our Album of The Week. This is the second to last airing before we make a new choice (come Sunday). Get in on it while you can!
7:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of America NEW!
We don’t do a lot of soft rock in The Mermaid Lounge, but these guys made some of the best. And albums like Homecoming (which also did time as our Album of The Week a while ago), Holiday, and their debut album (especially) were great. They get a place at our table. America was formed in London in 1970 by Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley, all of whom were sons of U.S. Air Force members. Fun fact: Dan Peek (the middle guy) went on to a career in Christian music. You won’t hear that here.
10:00 p.m. Not The Album of The Week: John Wesley Harding by Bob Dylan
We continue our Dylan birthday tribute with an album that is not our album of the week, John Wesley Harding which was released in 1967. Tomorrow will be our final Dylan tribute for his 80th birthday celebration.
Turn it on, people. All you need is a new browser tab and the ability to click the link below to reach musical nirvana. No membership, no credit card, no personal information required. No fucking lie.
Good Morning, Folks! Today we tone down Tuesday Bluesday just a bit (and just for one week) so that we can continue celebrating Bob Dylan’s 80th birthday. Bluesologists, do not despair! We have some trifectas scheduled throughout the day!
Bob Dylan & George Harrison just hanging out.
Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. Dr. John, Art Blakeley, and David “Fathead” Newman: The Bluesiana Triangle
Three masters give us some blues and funk, Louisiana style. This short-lived group consisted of Dr. John (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Art Blakeley (drums), and David “Fathead” Newman (saxophone, flute).
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: The Wallflowers by The Wallflowers
The second airing of The Wallflowers’ debut album is upon us.
7:00 p.m. Bob Dylan & George Harrison: The Columbia Music Sessions, May 1, 1970
Rumor has it that Dylan and Harrison were supposed to go meet up with Elvis, but they got a bit sidetracked. Whether the rumor is true or not, we don’t know. But the music is.
All Day Blues Trifectas
We’re running blues trifectas througout the day, Stevie Ray Vaughan at 9:00 a.m., B.B. King at 1:30 p.m., and Eric Clapton at 5:00 p.m.
Come and get it, folks! We’re not-for-profit and do not require a subscription. That means you don’t give us a credit card or your personal information. Ever. Just pull up a tab and sit awhile.
Today we celebrate Bob Dylan’s 80th birthday. What programming we have is Bob. The rest will be open stream. We have a lot of Dylan programming available here in The Mermaid Lounge. We will be scheduling one Bob Dylan program every day for the rest of the week.

Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Live at The Cal Expo Amphitheatre, Sacramento, California, June 12, 1986
It doesn’t get any better than this. Today’s Dylan feature is a great concert from the second leg of the True Confessions tour with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. This is a musical marriage made in heaven: one, if not the, greatest songwriter of all time backed by one of the best rock n’roll bands in history.
5:00 p.m. Not the Album of The Week: Desire by Bob Dylan
We’ve already had Desire as our album of the week many moons ago. We’ll be featuring a few of our favorite Dylan albums this week. This was the first time I ever heard the sweet voice of Emmylou Harris, who provides some amazing vocals on this masterpiece of an album.
It’s all Dylan all day today. In between, it’s our great open stream. No charge. No card. No personal information. Ever. It’ll be a fun week. Might as well make this your day to tune us in.
Good Morning, Audiophiles! We’ve got a newly-expanded extended playlist for you today that we debut in part earlier in the week for starters, then our usual fare!
We kick it off today with our new Travelin’ Fever Longplayer!
Here’s Saturday’s Line-up:
11:00 a.m. Travelin’ Fever: Various Artists NEW!
We previewed this playlist earlier in the week, but we’ve rapidly expanded and extended it to make it our newest long-player, multi-artist block. You’ll hear Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Sheryl Crow, The Beatles, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Cream, J.J. Cale, Asleep At The Wheel, Little Feat, Jerry Jeff Walker, Fats Domino, James Taylor, Jesse Winchester, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne and many more!
7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Willy & The Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival FINAL AIRING!
The final airing of this week’s featured album is upon us. Tomorrow, we’ll have a new selection.
10:00 p.m. LIVE DEAD! The Grateful Dead Live at Barton Hall, Cornell University, May 8, 1977
This is, without a doubt, one of the Dead’s finest live performances ever. It is definitely not to be missed. Don’t forget to tune it in later tonight!
Get on the music train that runs through The Mermaid Lounge. We’re 24/7, totally free, and we play some of the best damned music on the planet.
Good Morning, Musicologists, one and all! We’ve got a lot of Open Stream today punctuated with two legends. It’s Friday, and we give you plenty of wildly rotating music before our heavier Saturday programming!
Linda Ronstadt has made lots of friends during her career. Today they drop by to sing with her.
Here’s today’s line-up:
12:00 p.m. Linda Ronstadt & Friends: Duets and More
Everyone wanted to sing with Linda Ronstadt back in the day, and she once openly stated she’d rather be part of a girl’s band than a solo artist. That didn’t stop her from being the Queen of Rock throughout the seventies and beyond. Today, we give you a Ronstadt collection where she sings with those friends, John David Souther, Jackson Browne, Bette Midler, Frank Sinatra, Emmylou Harris, Wendy Waldman, Hoyt Axton, Maria Muldaur, Neil Young, Randy Newman, Dolly Parton, and more!
7:00 p.m. Bob Marley & The Wailers: Live at The Stanley Theatre, Philadelphia, September 23, 1980
Tonight, it’s The Legend live at The Stanley Theatre at what would be his final live performance ever before his untimely death.
We’ll say it again: We’re 24/7 and totally free. We don’t ask for credit cards or personal information, we don’t run advertising because we don’t accept it, and we aren’t making a dime on this. It’s what we call a labor of love. All we ask is that you tune us in.
Good Morning, Music Fans! Here we are on Thursday and our return to retail hell is imminent. But fear not, we leave you with some excellent programming today including a brand new multi-artist playlist later on.
Taj Mahal 1968. He is In The Spotlight today!
Here’s today’s line-up:
11:00 a.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal, who was born Henry St. Clair Fredericks in Harlem, New York, is an American blues musician and multi-instrumentalist, who plays guitar, piano, banjo, harmonica, and many other instruments. He is an innovator who refuses to be “defined” by any one form and often incorporates elements of world music into his works. You get to hear him here today from The Mermaid Lounge.
3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Willy & The Poor Boys by Creedence Clearwater Revival
We are winding down on this week’s album selection. Our last airing will be on Saturday, so this might be a good day to tune this one in! On Sunday, when you roll out of bed, there’ll be a new selection.
7:00 p.m. Deb’s Stream: Travelin’ Fever, Various Artists NEW!
The road is a popular topic among musicians, and we’ve got a brand new playlist debuting here today on just that subject. You’ll hear The Doors, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Byrds, Emmylou Harris, The Steve Miller Band, Linda Ronstadt, Arlo Guthrie, The Allman Brothers Band, Canned Heat, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Who and more!
Tune in. Turn on. Drop out. A once-famous person said that. I know. It’s a weekday. That may not be possible. But it’s the thought that counts. Nevertheless, if you can, you should.
Good Morning, Musicologists. Yes, it’s still morning. We’re a little later than usual kicking this off but every now and then what is known as “the real world” takes center stage. We try to keep that to a minimum here.
We’ve got some early Beatles up for you at noon!
Here’s today’s line-up:
12:00 p.m. The Beatles: The Early Years
Yes, The early years, when the Fab Four was in its infancy. But even back then, they were a force, no matter what the morons listening to the garbage being made today tell you. They were a really tight band even back then, and were doing things that nobody else was doing. We’ve even got some alternative takes and unreleased music in this particular playlist, so enjoy.
4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Donovan
Surely one of the most iconic musicians of the sixties right here. Sometimes he falls under the radar, but he shouldn’t. We used to call him Mr. Cosmic when we were yunguns.
8:00 p.m. Badfinger Live at The Cowtown Ballroom, Kansas City, Missouri, April 7, 1972
Perhaps the only bona fide star power band ever signed by The Beatles for Apple Records, Badfinger made some great power pop music in its day. Betrayed by their manager and royally fucked over, their ending was a sad one with two members committing suicide. But they left us a great musical legacy and we love them here in The Mermaid Lounge.
Tune us in, folks. You have no idea what you’re missing until you give us a shot. No foolin’ around here. We’re the real deal.
