A couple of hours worth of music that refuses to play in the system. Get on it.

3:00 p.m.   The Ungovernable Report

This is our third airing since Friday at a different time slot for maximum coverage.

4:00 p.m.   In the Spotlight: The Music of The Doors

They made music together for just four years, but their impact on rock music cannot be denied. Jim Morrison was rock’s original bad boy.

We’re back to open streaming after The Doors as the station will be taken off line early Monday evening in preparation for Tom Petty month.

We’re Back! Programming for Saturday, September 28, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We are back with a bit of a new format, starting with lighter programming and more music on the weekends. We start out today with one new and one updated playlist.

the Lovin Spoonful

1:00 p.m.    Echoes From the Canyon: Various Artists

A play list focusing on the subject of the new documentary, “Echoes in the Canyon,” which chronicles the birth of the California sound as it came together in Laurel Canyon. Featuring the songs of The Mamas & The Papas, The Lovin’ Spoonful (pictured), Jackson Browne, The Byrds, and Joni Mitchell.

5:00 p.m.    In the Spotlight: The Music of The Shelters (Updated)

When we put together this play list originally (a few months ago), the Shelters were riding the success of their first album under the guidance and production of Tom Petty. Since then, their second album has been released and we have updated the play list to reflect that.

7:30 p.m.     The Ungovernables Report

News and notes from the world with Sarah Freels and Adam Rice putting their own little twist on it.

Mostly Open Streaming but With a Twist Today, September 25, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Well, we’re still open streaming, sort of. But today, we must celebrate the life and work of Robert Hunter, fabled lyricist for the Grateful Dead, who passed away yesterday at the age of 78.

It’s The Band, Petty, The Pretenders and a Very Special Concert, September 22, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’re starting to get back in the swing of things with the station. We’re in the midst of revamping and realigning our planned programming, as well as trying to get our “on demand” section going. Please be patient as we grow.

10:00 a.m.    Petty Theft: The Covers

No doubt in anybody’s mind: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are the greatest cover band in music ever. Here they cover everybody from Carole King to Chuck Berry. Not to be missed.

1:00 p.m.      Steve Earle, Townes VanZandt, and Guy Clark “Live” at the Bluebird Cafe

I’m here to tell you this was a labor of love. The only outlet I could find that still sells this is Amazon. That’s not happening. In the immortal words of Liawatha Warren, “She persisted.” I did.  We’ve got it. And Jeff Bezos didn’t make a penny off it.

4:00 p.m.      In the Spotlight: The Music of The Band

8:00 p.m.      In the Spotlight: The Pretenders

There’s nothing to it. Just pull up a tab and tune in to:

We’re Back With Ladies’ Only Day!

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’ve been streaming for days now trying to fix a glitch we have without interrupting service. We may have lost that battle. Not quite sure yet. But for today, we’re going to enjoy some tunes from the those we consider the pioneers and powerhouses of women in music.

RONSTADTRAITT2

10:00 a.m.   The All-Girl Revue, File 1: Various Artists

3:00 p.m.     The All-Girl Revue Too (also known as File 2): Various Artists

Both of these playlists offer a great line-up of women musicians across a broad range of styles.

8:00 p.m.     In the Spotlight: The Music of Linda Ronstadt

This month, we pay respect to one of the most fearless artists of her generation with the release of the documentary, The Sound of My Voice. If she were a man, she never would have been made to wait for her induction into the Rock n’Roll Hall of Fame until 2012.

11:00 p.m.    In the Spotlight: The Music of Laura Nyro

Laura Nyro is another of those under appreciated performers. Her songwriting is legendary. Many have hit the big time with her songs, like The Fifth Dimension. Sometimes Nyro’s singing is overlooked, and that is a shame. We aim to correct that here.

Will it be a Ladies Only Weekend? It could be. I’m feelin’ it right now. Stick around and find out!

And by the way, in between these playlists we have our usual inclusive line up.

We’re Back Tomorrow With ‘Ladies Only’

Good Morning, Ungovernables! One more day of open stream while we continue to upload some new files and eliminate others. We’re back with new programming on Friday when it will be Ladies Only day!

photovisi-Ladies Only

Don’t get your underwear in a twist, gentlemen. You dominate the airwaves like everything else. Even Sirius XM hasn’t put together a woman’s station yet, and there are plenty of female singers out there, and plenty whose talent has paved the way for today’s crop of talentless waifs who all sound the same. In fact, if there were a woman’s station today, I am convinced it would not include these pioneers.

Enjoy today’s open stream at http://www.tinyurl.com/becomeungovernableradio

It’s a Wild, Streaming Wednesday!

No pressure. No politics. Just music. One more day.

Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s an open streaming day again here at #BecomeUngovernable Radio. Just tune in and enjoy for at least one more day!
